All these newer champs i'm seeing are just "there" if you see the older ones and classics (their stories that is) you see they have a good bit of history and reason to be in the league as they are. It takes half the fun out of the game when there's no history behind the people.

Yes there are those side stories outside the real game that RIOT's kinda doing, but it seems in their efforts to do that, the summary of the character's history in the story one can read inside the champion select area have become lackluster and uninteresting without even comparing

Riot has never been very heavy on lore. I'm actually not even sure what the league of legends is now, because as far as I'm aware, they axed the whole concept of the Institute of War and using fields of justice to settle political conflicts.

the lore before was basically gameplay and stories were intersected. Now they are two separate entities. The current lore makes the release of champions easier as the now have to have a place in the current structure of the story.( like adding a new character to a book) Take for instance kled: he not only acts as the foil to poppy as a vital part of noxian and demacian history respectively but also is a folk hero and representation of noxian bravery and persistence. To me the old lore of summoners just didn't do it for me
