A full scale war. Who would win and why. Support your thoughts with arguments. No outside help or allies. No World Runes. So who would win? Thread inspired by the one that pointed out Demacia and Bandle City are the only factions with the air force advantage.
Noxus is probably going to win because it will appeal to the edgelords.
Realistically, there is little to no way to tell. Honestly, all we know about either military is that Demacia has a better trained and organized army while Noxus has a more numerous army.
While that’s helpful for noting which strategy and tactics both sides should use. It doesn’t determine the likelihood of their success.
We’d need to know the economic stability of both regions. The solidity of the hierarchy. How many resources can be moved around without creating revolts.
Without all that, this is just pissing in the wind. Especially when the writers haven’t even revealed the intricacies of the armies outside of grand strokes. And honestly, I don’t think even Riot really understands how military technology works anyway. So the answer will always be "Whichever side the writer wants to win."
I think Noxus would win. Demacias army might be better but Noxus outnumber them greatly. We know Noxus and Demacia had some even battles in the past, but those were when Darkwill was fighting wars at every front. Now Swain, Darius and a mysterious third person are in power, and that would make a huge difference. First of all, Swain is the kind of guy to always have a plan. Fighting unwinnable wars is the reason why he threw Darkwill from the throne, Swain wouldn't make the same mistakes. He is a tactician and with his demons power he is able to evaluate the war in a way nobody else can. Second, Noxus now has the Trifarian Legion, although we don't know how big it is, they should be better trained than common Demacian soldiers. And lastly, Noxus has no scruple. Chemical weapons, magic (while less effective is still a potent weapon that can kill hundreds at a time), and sending soldiers to their death only to have new ones follow them are all thing Noxus is willing to do.
Demacia would maybe win more battles, but they just don't have enough manpower to win the war.
I dont think that any side can win, that is why Noxus has invaded other places instead of Demacia... their defense is just way stronger than Noxus, but they cant really attack Noxus with their stronger weapon (Galio)
My guess is that Noxus wins, but its an absolute meat-grinder that makes victory Pyrrhic. Demacians are nationalistic to the extreme its somewhat been shown, so I imagine that even if Noxus wins the war its either
-Put every Demacian to the sword and move their own settlers into the region after committing genocide. -Or deal with mass rebellion and unrest from the region constantly for centuries to come
Yeah Demacia sits on a lot that is of value (Petricite is probably a fairly valuable resource), but the amount of soldiers Noxus has to throw into the meat-grinder to get at it makes it not worth taking (The same reason that many small nations survived next to giant ones historically). It would also possibly weaken them to the point that other Noxian holdings could likely break free if they chose. Pretty much no reason for Noxus to try and grind down Demacia so long as they keep themselves in the isolated position that they hold.

Hm... I think Demacia COULD win a war in the long term due to the fact Noxus's Empire was INCREDIBLY spread out so if their army was deployed for too long rebellions would start to spring up, But Demacia could NEVER successfully invade Noxus due to demacia's small size (they need their army too yo) I think it would be a stalemate, theres a good reason that they have contested territory between them, neither of them can afford to launch a full-scale invasion of the other.

Noxus's army diversity is key to this. They have legions for basically any single possible situation.
Demacia's army might be superior, but Noxus outnumbers them by A LOT. That and Noxus has the mages on their side, while Demacia shuns magic-wielders from their society.
Just saying when galio gets to smashing noxus is gonna feel it
Demacia could create a situation where Noxus cannot afford to invade them due to a superior defensive line but they wouldn't "win" because they cannot go on the offensive
