Irelia's VO is filled with charisma, jokes, sharp words and overall wit while i can't even remember what Kai'Sa even sounds like.
Is this intentional or did you run out of ideas with Kai'Sa? For a void-raised person, she should have at least anger or seriousness in her tone but she's far too monotone in my opinion. Meanwhile, Irelia, someone trained in tranquility is more fierce than most champions in League.
I think the intent may have been that the experiences Kai'sa has lived through sort of left her guarded and closed, but quietly heroic. Irelia is more of an impassioned rebel leader figure, like an Ionian Joan d'Arc. She's a violent agitator so I'm not surprised her VO sparked this thread!
I think that tranquil Ionian tone you're thinking of is going to be attached to "balance and training" oriented figures like Karma, Master Yi, and the Kinkou going forward.
I agree that the new Irelia VO performance is (intentionally) much more inspiring and passionate than the Kai'sa one, but I disagree that the difference is one of quality; Kai'sa is a very different type of character, and even though she's not my favorite character either, I'm glad that she sounds different than all the other seductress, spitfire, and battle queen archetypes in League.
