Yes! Progress! (New Riven and Yasuo Story)

I'm really excited that Yasuo and Riven got a new story. It's going to help show some character development AND some information on Ionia. Yasuo seems like a good character, not entirely without flaws, but overall a nice and smart guy. Riven, as well, seems to be developing. The part where she's holding back her natural instinct to fight is very moving.

Also, this is looking to be the start of some progression in character arcs, rather than just writing a bio and it stagnating for months or years. That's a good sign, and something League lore really needs.

Something to note, however: this is one year after the Noxus-Ionia war was ended by Swain's rise to power in Noxus. According to Scathlocke, present-day (at least as we know it) is seven years after the war ended (this is when The Principles of Strength occurs). So, this story is actually happening six years before present-day Noxus, so it's less of progression and more of fleshing out the two characters. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this.)

But either way, I'm still hyped for the rest of the story and other lore stories that's next to come.

One last thing: A thanks to Thermal Kitten (Ariel Lawrence) for the awesome writing in this first story. I'm sure the rest of it's gonna be just as exciting. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Why is it not a progression? There is no set "Present" in the LoL universe as far as writing is concerned.

And frankly I like it that way

Everyone has their own "present day" Taliyah's "present" is all happening in the past. Taliyah met Yasuo before he returned to the village which means everything that is part of Shurima's major story arch is happening BEFORE what occurred in Present Day Noxus.

This also means that Varus could have very well been in Shurima for longer than we anticipated.

Cassieopia has been a snake for 7 yrs Chances are, most of wha transpired in Shurima (unless noted otherwise) has been finished by the time Swain's story begins.
