Lissandra - Master Manipulator in Old Lore, Coward in New Lore

So in Lissandra's old lore, she was one of the 3 sisters. Except, instead of being a powerful being of authority to bring peace the Freljord, she secretly plotted with the enemy to bring them into the world, and place them on the throne, with her, ever loyal, at their side. They were the Watchers, she was their vassal, and she devoted herself and millennia of plans to erasing her misdeeds from history and to infiltrate the Frostguard tribe so that she would have her army to ride with once the Watchers were freed from the Abyss. Her entire being was devoted to her cunning manipulations as she sought a way to bring the Watchers back so that they would grant her power and a position alongside them in the world.

In her new lore, she's one of the 3 sisters. But when she loses her sight, she sees the Watchers in the dreams, and strikes a bargain with them for immortality. When they arrive she chickens out, and she sacrifices her sisters to the Watchers, and then betrays them, trapping them in true ice. Then she sets about planning to delay them for eternity? Her new lore deviates hard from her old lore, and paints Lissandra, who was formerly a back stabbing manipulator with all the cards in hand, as a coward who would throw her sisters in front of her to die so that she can live another day. Just no. This isn't Lissandra. Lissandra hides in the shadows because she's planning things. She doesn't hide out of cowardice and fear. Lissandra has basically become one of those "NEW WORLD ORDER" rednecks who has locked herself in a compound (the Frostguard village) and is hoarding guns and ammo (True Ice) to defend against the lizard people (Watchers) so that she and those around her will survive the inevitable armageddon that follows. This is a horrible way to paint Lissandra.

That seems like a pretty wrong interpretation of what happened. Lissandra is still a manipulator, and they went to great lengths to maintain that aspect of her personality so the few people who like her wouldn't complain. She saw the possibility to use their power. Never had any intention to actually let them cross over. Why would she? It would simply mean the end of the world. And that's not what she wants.

It’s interesting that you feel this way. You should acknowledge that many did not get this impression.

Well one thing doesn't necessarily exclude the other.

The new lore still paints Lissandra as a schemer and manipulator, someone who changed the records of the history and who plans to let Ashe and Sejuani destroy each other instead of destroying their tribes herself.

However I don't really mind it that she comes off as kinda cowardly, because I feel like we have enough champs that are brave and confident.

And ultimately we never really knew old Lissandras motivation for serving the watchers,it could have been for power or out of gratitude for their gifts, but it might have been out of fear all along.

Since when did pragmatism equal cowardice?

I think you got it backward. Lissandra's old lore paints her as a cowardly zealot to the Watchers, and in her new lore she betrays anyone and everyone around her to get more power.

In her new lore, she's one of the 3 sisters. But when she loses her sight

Well, actually the part about losing her sight was from the old lore as well.

All lore after and including the summoner retcon is just "official" fan fic from contracted tumblr writers

I know several people are saying "I didn't get that impression at all" but I'm not going to fault you for that because, honestly, I think that's one of the new bio's biggest problems. Aside from straying super far away from Lissandra's original MO (support the Watchers, now stop the Watchers), the bio is just too confusing. And not in a good, surreal way, like I'm not sure what information we're supposed to know from this. At this point, I've seen dozens of interpretations of Lissandra's bio and I think that's a result of how confusing it is. I don't know what happened to Avarosa and Serylda, but not in the "we just don't know" way, in the "I'm not sure if we're even supposed to know exactly what happened. It told us they died, but maybe I misinterpreted how and why" way.

The clarity in Lissandra's bio is very low I would say. And what you say here:

Her new lore deviates hard from her old lore, and paints Lissandra, who was formerly a back stabbing manipulator with all the cards in hand, as a coward who would throw her sisters in front of her to die so that she can live another day.

Even though I don't agree with the exact interpretation, I can agree she deviated from the Lissandra you described, which is the Lissandra I like. The new bio didn't make Lissandra seem cunning and manipulative, it made her seem...very vague and I don't know what kind of character she is now.

You know what hurts you(and me but I got over it) the fact that Lissandra is a afraid and she never was afraid before, we dont know lissandra as the afraid one we know her as the one to be afraid of!! But look at it like that: She let the watchers grant her immortality as she invited them into runeterra, while doing that she realised how terrifying they were, seeing them coming from the void and all the thoughts of them ruining her world and destroying everything just snapped and she sealed them and sadly somehow had to seal her sisters too... (A RIOTER SAID MORE CLARIFICATION IS COMING!!) You must understand that she is not stupid or suicidal, she knew that she would die with everyone else because he void hates creation! (I do believe that Riot couldve found another way for Lissandra to reign witht he watchers bit riot decided that the watchers only want ruination so they didnt want to let liss die, so they made her outsmart them)

These watchers are HUGEEE and terrifying, I guess that even an Ice witch would shit her pants aswell as anyone else who saw them( be it seain or leblanc)...

Be happy about her making the citadel and the frostguard happn, her priests and warriors helping and protecting her... She corrupted them all! She doesnt want her reign to end so she has to keep them sealed( i know it sucks but still)

I agree with facets of ur opinion... but largely in her choice to keep killing the reincarnations of her sisters... dumb and cowardly because it seems like she needs them to fight the watchers.... idrk her reasoning in killing them if they’re needed :/. Her old lore largely is still relevant if you think about it as from the Watchers perspective (her deception)
