A Theory About Sylas' Voice Actor

So, back during the reworked Aatrox AMA on reddit WAAAARGHbobo let it slip that his voice actor’s name was 'Ramon'. This ended up leading some people to believe that this Ramon was Ramon Tikaram. Now, I’ve never played Dragon Age, but for those that have, you’d know him as Dorian. Initially I kind of brushed this off because, to my ear, Aatrox didn’t sound like any of Tikaram’s work that I was able to find and he certainly didn’t sound like Dorian.

However, with Sylas’ release it got me thinking about it again. Now Sylas... Sylas to me sounds similar enough to what I could find of Dorian’s voice. Definitely closer than Aatrox did that's for sure lol. I don’t think I’m the only one who’s noticed this either.

Feel free to compare for yourself, however:

On top of that one of his lines stuck out to me as having the same inflection as one of Aatrox’s as well. (There are possibly more lines with similar inflections, but this one in particular jumped out to me + I haven’t taken the time to fully listen to Sylas’ voice in depth.)

Anyway, as far as I recall, Aatrox's rework was on an experimental shortened schedule. And if that’s true what if... on a tight schedule instead of digging around for another voice actor Riot grabbed somebody they already had there doing another voice...?

Basically; TL;DR What I’m saying is I think Sylas' voice actor is Ramon Tikaram and that he also provided the voice for reworked Aatrox. He was there to do Sylas’ voice so why not bring him on to do Aatrox as well? I'm not actually certain of the timeline of when voice actors are brought in so this could be the opposite way around too for all I know. IE. Brought in to do Aatrox, kept him on for Sylas. But you get the idea.

Whatever the case we’ll never know unless the voice actor himself decides to disclose this, but I thought there wouldn’t be any harm in bringing this theory to the boards... at one in the a.m. my time because I can’t sleep and am very bored.

Let me know what you all think! Who do you think Sylas' voice actor is if not Tikaram?

I can believe this. I mean, after all, we know that Maokai got a random ass VO update juuuuuust before Swain's VGU, and I believe they are voiced by the same people, and then I'm about 99% certain that the same actress who voiced Xayah also stayed around to voice Evelynn's VGU, as a few of Evelynn's inflections in some of her lines sound eerily similar to Xayah's. So it wouldn't surprise me if Aatrox's voice actor was also Sylas'.

I do wonder why Riot is tightlipped about who voiced what in their game. It's stupid to me that they'd keep that information private, as there's not reason why we shouldn't know who does the voices for characters we love.

If you want to hear a line that is easier to compare to other performances by Ramon, listen to Aatrox's "enemy flashes mastery" line that ends in "I am fighting an imbecile" as the filter on his voice isn't nearly as heavy when he delivers that line and it sounds eerily similar to his saying the same word in Dragon Age.

The voice actor for him must be: Jude Law.

The resemblance is uncanny.

Or: David Shaughnessy

Too bad they didn't hire Zachary Quinto. He played Sylar from Heroes, who could steal other people's abilities, but his imprisonment story was sort of the reverse. He was on a rampage from the beginning, and later found himself bound by his own conscience/mental block for years (a matter of hours in reality). When he broke out, he'd mellowed considerably. Oh, and while Sylas draws his power from Petricite, Sylar's foil in Heroes was Peter Petrelli, another ability mimic.

Sylas's designers were probably Heroes fans, although other than the name/ult, the similarities are a bit of a reach.

The voice I thought of listening to Sylas was Kormac the templar from Diablo 3 played by Dominic Keating.

A few times he sounded like Darius to me.

It's so hard to say though because voice actors have such broad ranges.
