#2018 Lore Tournament: Day 11 Today, both of our stories focus around the affairs of Noxus. In the first story, a noblewoman of the outlying Noxian fortress, the Delverhold, learns about the discipline needed for a strong nation. However, in the second story, members of a Noxian expedition take their strength and boldness too far and find themselves in quite a bit of trouble in Kumungu.

The Principles of Strength by Anthony Reynolds Lenné Alyssa Roshka Gloriana val-Lokan and her brother Oram Arkhan val-Lokan discuss the agreements between Noxus and the Delverhold with the Noxian Trifarix. The visit to Noxus teaches Alyssa to realize the principles of a nation's strength, and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.

At the Edge of the World by Ian St.Martin Noxian Commander Ysard Tomyri leads her ship, the Ardentius, out from Noxus for the glory of her nation and her own name. However, upon reaching the mysterious Kumungu jungle in eastern Shurima, the living force of growth defending it seems to be a brutal match for the brutal Noxians...

[EDIT] And with an overwhelming 45 to 6 votes, "The Principles of Strength" wins. This is our first contestant in the quarter-finals!

The Principles of Strength involves characters that we already know about, and how champions are viewed in the eyes of everyday people, so it wins my vote.

Also, I really like the power dynamic between Darius, Swain, and the Faceless.

I like them both, but I think Swain and LeBlanc the Faceless ultimately make the first story more interesting to me.

Blood for Noxus!

Ooooof! I chose At the Edge of the World, because of how it portrays Zyra. It never even mentions her by name or appearance, but we know it's her growth driving out the Noxians, and it really shows how her power spreads across the whole breadth of Kumungu, with her planning to spread out into Shurima. It's fear-inducing subtlety done quite well.

But that was a close choice for me...because the Principles of Strength is also a really good story about Noxian politics and the philosophies that make up the strength of a nation. And it sure looks like that one's winning!

I'm giving my vote to Edge of the World, mostly because I love the immense feeling of dread that it gives the deeper you get into the story and jungle.
