Husk - The Hive Commander (cancelled League of Legends champion)

This is Husk created by ex-rioter IronStylus. Unfortunately, she didn't cut into live servers but her abilities and concepts we're reinvented and was turned to make Camille and Kai'sa. Which is ok to me too. If she was brought in to live servers, Camille and Kai'sa wouldn't(imo) be created.

Her bio states:

Cancelled champion for League of Legends. Husk was eventually split to create Camille and Kai'sa. She was intended to be a mercenary from Zaun, the leader of a team called "H.I.V.E", comprised of other mercenaries, outlaws and bounty hunters. She was to be Caitlyn's ex-partner, defecting to Zaun after Caitlyn betrayed her by paralyzing her from the waist down during a shootout.

Personal thoughts: I think her design is great, wait, what i mean is everything about her is great. We also got a chance to see a hero that went into the bad side (by revenge) because she was cait's ex-partner in crime getting her betrayed(? PS, Hey Kalista! cait betrayed someone!). Plus, I'm also ok with her being scrap because without her being cancelled, camille and kai'sa wouldn't be the same in the present or else there'll be no two of them. TBH, I don't think she will ever be out as a champion again that now she's brought up with this kind of fashion but please RIOT! even though she didn't make a cut into the game, please make her a lore only character specially her bio is nice/great and making cait having a darkside. Plus the hive gang is cool. Maybe a future champ from the hive besides her if the hive is in the lore?

I don't see the Camille in this, but I see LOTS of Kai Sa. She's not cancelled per se, she's a champion concept that evolved into Kai Sa, with some elements being used for Camille. Kind of how Ao Shin evolved to become Aurelion Sol.

Her character though should come back to the game/lore in some way. She sounds pretty interesting.

And this is pure theory crafting, but I also believe that Kayn was a brain child made from scrapped ideas for Evelynn's VGU. His Shadow Step (E) and Umbral Trespass (R) seem like abilities that would have been an experimental way to develop Evelynn without resorting to permanent stealth - it's also notable that Kayn is a jungler, like Evelynn, and that her Shadow Evelynn skin draws elements from Kayn's Shadow Assassin form. Just a personal theory, but given how close they were in release and development, this seemed very plausible to me.

Jesus, this design is absolutely awesome. Why do they always cancel great Zaunite and Piltovian concepts to create other characters?

Same for when they cancelled CeeCee to create Braum! Really, this frusrates me like hell.

Don't get me wrong, it is great that we got Camille. But I would have taken Husk over Kai'Sa every day.

I would rather Kai'Sa get a visual update to look a bit more tooth'n'nails tough like Husk. I think Kai'Sa is way too similar to have Husk added as a separate champion.

I literally cried when I saw her design. God, why do we have Kai'Sa in game, when we could have this masterpiece ;_;

This is too scientific for Zaun. I think it's better that they split the champion into Camille and Kai'Sa; Piltover and the Void have a stronger sci-fi feeling.

I'm interested in seeing if HIVE will be reused in the future.

To be honest looking at this champion concept, I really wish Riot explored (these elements below) in terms of champion design direction...

  • Damage over Time
  • Poison
  • Chemtech Technology theme

The game lacks any Damage over Time focused champions, and those that do have this element oftenly only have one ability with Damage over Time while the rest of their kits are just simple instant damage based abilities.

Looking at this champion, I can definitely see the potential, and while I can see why it could be suggested that the champion is somewhat similar to Camille or Kai'Sa, I also see the potential of making her unique and not collide with either Camille or Kai'Sas kit designs.

I personally love the green theme of the H.I.V.E

There's one thing that matters the most to me here - the Heat mechanic.

For a long, long, time, Rumble has been the only champion with the Heat mechanic. I would love to see it added to some new champions or maybe even some reworks. It might have even worked on Urgot, although his rework did well without it.

While it's great to see the definite roots of camille and kai'sa (which, I both immediately thought of when I saw this, it's super obvious) I would not like to see this become a champion. While the design would be interesting for lore NPC's and so on, in game it would feel way too similar to kai'sa to be unique.

Although, to be honest, I think the game can probably only handle so many more champions before it starts to break down, and riot should really buckle down on either trying to resolve the conflicts on Valoran, or explore other continents outside of valoran.

I’d like to see her in some form. H.I.V.E. is mentioned in Twitch’s lore and then not referenced anywhere else, and I’ve always been really curious about them.

I think Riot made a good call scrapping her. I don't like her design. The resulting Camille and Kai'Sa look way better in my opinion.

Wait a sec wasn't there a guy that had gone to riot to create a champion a while ago, as a part of the make a wish foundation. And wasn't that champion suposed to be an adc with a heat system that was from noxus and went to zuan with a lower body porblem?

I was literally just involved in a discussion about cancelled champions with a friend of mine earlier today. Of all the characters that got put on the cutting room floor, I think this is definitely one of my favorites design-wise. My only issue is that she looks more at home in a game like Overwatch than League.

She looks really look. Even if "Husk" was only a concept Champion, I'd like to see Riot revisit this design with a Chemtch Kaisa skin.
