I feel like there's a disconnect between Kassadin's looks and his lore

Kassadin, to me, gives off a Darth Vader vibe; he seems like he should be ruling an intergalactic empire and seems a little too comfortable on that throne in his Festive skin's splash art.

However, his story just feels completely different. If I only read Kassadin's lore, it would call to mind the image of a haggard veteran with hate in his eyes and nothing to lose, whose only goal is to destroy that which took everything from him.

I feel like he should look more like a cybernetic super-soldier (Doom Guy comes to mind) with some Void stylings sprinkled in. Of course, I'm not asking for his whole mage-assassin thing to be gotten rid of, but when I look at Kassadin, I don't think "vengeful father"; I think "ancient cosmic warrior".

What do you guys think? If I'm not mistaken, Kassadin is in line for a GU or VGU at some point in the future, so what would you want out of a rework?

Kassadin definitely needs a voice update, as do all the champions that don't have separate lines for movement and attacking. Singed, Mundo, and Morgana and Kayle come to mind, but the latter two are being reworked next year.

He needs some thematic cohesion work and the lore behind his appearance is definitely an artifact of old champion design. I think the explanation is mostly believable - it's a bunch of contraptions he wears to slow the effect of Void exposure, but such a "suit" would undoubtedly look different if designed today. It would probably cover all his skin, bear some resemblance to a space suit, and not feature cartoonishly edgy spikes. If a VU for him had that, he'd be fine in my book.

And his voice of course.

He certainly needs a visual update, but to be fair, I am not sure how you can get across the idea that he is a 'vengeful father' visually with him wearing a mask, and they certainly can't get rid of the mask.

In my opinion, he needs some tuning down of the rough edges in his design for something that looks a bit more smooth, a simple touch to make look more arabesque, and to have his suit be fully covering. But frankly, I don't see how that would satisfy your desire to have look more like a vengeful father, or a cybernetic super soldier. I think its a new VO that has to shoulder the burden of carrying his personality across.

Agreed. I would think they would the same with Annie's base skin model. Seems very out of place considering she look like she is from out time.

I miss when he was the leader of the Preservers and not just a desert guide-turned-dimensional vigilante.
