Which Champion is the best designed?

So my friends and I have had this discussion for awhile now, and none of us can agree on which champion is, overall, the best-designed champion? If you only look at gameplay, then the character isn't considered, and vice versa if you only look at lore or appearance. One of my friends says Thresh , because he delivers on the soul warden thing incredibly well, has an appearance that fits his theme, and is a constant threat to his enemies, but Thresh gets shot down by some of us because his lore makes him seem like a big bad wreck-your-face monster, but in game he is not very good at being a wreck-your-face champ unless he builds AD and gets really ahead.

I personally go for Urgot (hear me out). His whole idea is a has-been warrior who would dive straight into a battle, but because of his augments and his decrepit form he can't function the same way, and instead he has to make do. In-game he does that perfectly with his q,w, and e, with his ult being the only time he gets to live again in the middle of a fight, plunging into harm's way with grotesque brutality as he guns people down. His quotes also really portray that agony he lives in.

Other picks from friends: Diana , Braum , Fiddlesticks and Jhin Anyways, I was curious: Who's the best-designed champion and why (in your opinion)?

(EDIT: The general consensus seems to be on Sion. Can't say I'm opposed to it either. He's pretty well-done)

Sion

Everything in him screams this big motherfucker that you do not mess with. Plus the mixed lines of monstrous rage, insatiable bloodlust, and odd calm/mournful moments, make him feel rather realistic to me.

Personally, Jhin Jhin is my main and very favorite, so I'd argue for him being one of the most well-done champs. I don't care very much for his lore, however, but it is pretty grand and effectively displayed in his abilities, quotes, and art. He's also perfectly balanced as he does the ultimate damage, but losses movement and especially attack speed as a counter. Not to mention he's fantastic.

Jinx Jinx is a very colorful character with personality, pizzazz, and fun. Her splash and in-game art are nicely designed, and her abilities, highlighting her ability to switch weapons, reflect her crazy-fun character very well.

The last one I'll put is Kalista Kalista- she's just wow! Her art, splash and in-game, is very cool. Her lore and soul-collecting theme are superb and shown perfectly in her design.

Kindred

Never has a champion looked like it came right out of a story book until them, at least in my opinion. Their voice lines give me chills and they have a serine yet ferocious feel to them. A+ champion.

Zed . Love him or hate him, he fits his thematic perfectly. A master of Shadows who assassinates his foes and eludes his enemy's clutches by deception.

Jhin would be the other one. Fits the role of a psychotic sniper pretty much perfectly.

AurelionSol which some may disagree with me on kit wise but really, his kit is about as laid back as I'd expect him to be when dealing with feeble mortals. He just does exactly what's natural to him, and if things get a little hairy, he can just unload the very essence of creation itself to decimate his foes. I don't even need to speak to his lore, visuals and VO, but the effortlessness of his kit just sells him for me.

Sion Yorick Ivern Illaoi Kled are also strong contenders for me, but Aurelion Sol takes the cake.

I already gave my thoughts on who I think is the best designed (Sion), but I did want to give a shout out to who I think is in very close second... Illaoi Illaoi is a great example of what characters should be, an accumulation of her parts. From her back story, attitude, visuals, and abilities, every part of her add up to make one of the best characters.

If I wasn't so biased toward Sion, I might actually place her ahead of him.... But I am... So... Sion wins...

Nocturne.

It may be kinda trope-ish, but its amazing. Read all of his lore. And I mean read it from the wiki page, not the client. There's WAY more to it than just what's in his little in-client paragraph.. Same with Vlad.

Viktor because he designed himself, literally. Submit to his designs.

METAL IS PERFECTION.

Why is Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks considered best-designed? I can understand Diana, Braum and Jhin, but Fiddlesticks?

Sarari10/18/2016, 7:55:20 PM1 votes

I like kled. He always wants to kill you, and when hes low he wants to kill you even MORE so he can get skaarl back.

Arakadia10/18/2016, 11:51:10 PM1 votes

Bard for sure. He literally can't be OP in his current state without number changes. His kit is healthy as sheeeet.

And hes thematic. And derpy.

Renekton Personally, as a Renekton main. This lore fits his quotes almost perfectly. Shows fury and hostility on the smallest things (in where Xerath makes him insane). "What? Is there someone in my teeth?" Like, who wants to fight... that hulk of a crocodile.

Thresh
Thresh is phenomenal from his voice acting to a kit built for perfect disengage and hard engage simultaneously. No wonder he's been in the meta since release. Well done riot.

GreenLore10/16/2016, 10:07:35 AM1 votes

The problem with urgot is that while his kit is kinda fitting thematically, his actual gamplay is badly designed, which is pretty much the reason why Riot has actively avoided Urgot.

Also Thresh doesn't really come off as an "in-your-face"-monster to me,he feels more like the villain of a horror movie, you know the guy who will stalk his victims for a bit(while making them aware that he is coming for them),before ambushing his victims, which actually gets reflected by his gameplay quite well(as he'll usually hide in a brush to wait for the perfect opportunity, coming out from time to time collecting souls before going back again). Though there is the fact that thresh himself deals not a lot of damage in the game,so he himself doesn't do most of the killing.

Gnar

He has the most versatile kit in game being both a tank and burst. If a player gets ahead he can continue to build AD items to get even stronger and just mow down opponents. Likewise if he falls behind he can become incredibly tanky while still maintaining a good amount of damage. On top of that, his Mega Gnar has incredible team fight chain cc and play maker abilities. When he's mini, he has great ranged harass that can potentially drop anyone who accidentally gets too far separated from the group.
