Narrative Recap: 2018 and Beyond - Nexus

A year ago ThermalKitten and Scathlocke promised "the lore tap would be turned on", I don't think anyone expected this amount, variety and quality of lore. Runeterra is finally a proper world we can immerse ourselves in, with originality and wit that often far surpasses its peers in the gaming industry.

Having seen the hard work on the inside, I have nothing but admiration for all the sleepless nights and long chains of tight deadlines that went into it. And I know it's going to get even bigger and better.

This year has brought some of my favorite stories I've ever read. "The Shadow Door," "Art is Life," and "Boleham Tower" were highlights of my Halloween this year. The stories that Pyke brought with him from the depths were astounding, giving us insight into the oceanic folklore of Bilgewater (and a lot to speculate on re: fish). The story of the darkin was engrossing, and I loved the potential tease for Varus's sister, as well as the suffocating tragedy of Aatrox. Nunu and Willump were so pure, a ray of hope in the often dark atmosphere of Runeterra. The foray into the jungle brought us an excellent horror story courtesy of some unfortunate Noxians, as well as Neeko, whose adventures I look forward to very much.

Admittedly there's a few things I wasn't very satisfied with, but overall this was an amazing year for lore.

They definitely knocked it out of the fking park this year (I still think that whoever wrote Lissandras lore shouldnt be allowed to write any piece of any story by themselves and shouldnt get to write lore for a long time.. I take back that they should be fired)

Honestly I think they did great overall. They gave us a lot more than I certainly was expecting for this year, and I can't believe how many hyperlinks are in that article.

Now if only they could offer some attention to Sona, who they skipped out on for both the Demacian and Ionian updates and I still have friends asking where she is and which regional quests she satisfies.
