As you can see the costumes are not similar in any way aside from color. Taki is often not wearing anything on her face, and when she is it's a METAL mask. In fact, their costumes are different in almost every way they could be while maintaining the same theme, if you care to compare them.

I can see why there'd be confusion, what with the splash artist mistakenly making the suit shiny. But the skin was nothing more than a red recolor back when chromas weren't a thing. Even the name doesn't suggest any link to Taki.

So although it might've been cool for them to actually make it look like Taki, it wouldn't have made sense. Seeing as she has even more weapons than before, and still none of them the weapons used by Taki. Not to mention her notable lack of bust. And seeing as the differences in weaponry and movemeny are even further than before, they decided to change the skin entirely instead of scrambling to find a different female ninja to copy.

#####Just to note, Young Ryze was also renamed and completely changed. And both Enchanted Galio and Shadow Evelynn only share slight color similarities with their old counterparts.
