Riot, I am loving the way you guys are handling lore so far.

I have to say, you guys have done better this year with the lore. I would also like to include the Shurima story as well. After everything that went on last year about the lore, I can say that I feel this is a great way for the lore to be going now

This year Legend's lore has brought light on many things in Runeterra. To start I will list them in chronological order:

  1. The Wonder Above The Wonder Above revealed the Floating Villages of Ionia. I do not think they actually float, but are high in the mountains. And revealed a celestial being, Bard, who has an important duty in Runeterra to make sure things do not fall out of balance in the universe. The battle of Bard mountain gave clear reason of why Noxus would want to invade Ionia. There was an egg that contain power, strong enough to cut mountains. And we also got to see Bard in action.

  2. Ekko: Seconds and Chronobreak We all thought Zaun was a land of mad scientists, experiments, and pollution from factories. Not at all, Ekko, the boy who shattered time is a resident of Zaun's slums. Ekko himself shows that Zaun is a place with a lot of potential. He himself invented the Z-drive, a device that can manipulate time. We also got a look at his background, which shows how he tried to save his friend. This also shows that Piltovians(labeled as "Pilties") freely go in and out of Zaun. Even thought the two cities are rivals, it doesn't stop people from visiting one another. Another small note is that Vi and Jinx are confirmed to be from Zaun.

  3. The River King revealed that there are demons in Runeterra. Not quite like the ones from various religions. In this case it features Tahm Kench...in which that isn't even his name. But it's one of the names people know him as. He's a river demon that entice people in to making deals: Which is bringing them to what ever they wish, but comes with a price. The certain image we have of him now is that of Bilgewater, he goes by other names and images I'm sure.

  4. Bilgewater and Shadow Isles have been completely fleshed out like we have always wanted. The two stories Burning Tides and Shadow and Fortune gives us a tale of recent events and past events that happened in Runeterra. The fall of the Reaver King Gangplank by the hands of Sarah Fortune, the past between Graves and Twisted Fate, and what really went down on the Shadow Isles. The latter used to be called the Blessed Isles a whole new thing entirely. A new champion was also introduced: Illaoi. The first actual champion being introduced in lore and brought to the game as a playable champion. Her lore also gave us insight on how Gangplank survived the attack by Fortune. Illaoi herself is from a new location called Buhru, in which is a part of the Serpent Isles commonly known as Blue Flame Isles.

There is also Fiora's lore that gave us more about the society of Demacia. And now we have A Hero's Calling Which eve shows us more about Demacia. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with whats been produced lately. I can be content and not have to worry about the next lore produced being not very likable.

I am also loving the Graphic Novel approach you guys are taking to lore. I feel this is a very good way to capture fans attention(primarily for the ones who hardly read lore). Now there shouldn't be any more complaints like "Riot isn't producing lore because..." or "Riot lore isn't good because.." To be honest they are still fixing various champs lore to fit the new Runeterra, but while we're waiting they have been giving us lore to read. Keep up the good work Riot, I can't wait for Targon!

The only thing that had my blood boiling was when Amumu's lore was cut down to 1 sentence without any explanation (right before Shurima came in play) and from then on, every other champions who were reworked/changed in any way had their lore cut to 3-4 sentences max, with the exception of those who take place in lore events, which still have a short ass lore on the client, but a long one on the wiki

Still waiting for lore that is both better than the old lore and could not have happened with the Institute of War around.

We're glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for the kind words from the many teams involved, GenociderX. We have a lot of work to do (as I know I always say, but it's true!), and we hope you enjoy what's ahead.

Cheers.

This year's been a pretty great year for lore in my opinion, even if it started as potentially one of the worst considering the circumstances, and I'm glad to have been able to experience it. It's clear that lore is important and a big focus at Riot, and I'm glad that's clear and well shown. This year we've had actual story progression, world building, and multiple forms of lore outlets, which all help to bring Runeterra to life in a big way. It honestly felt really great seeing Burning Tides come out because I felt vindicated in my belief that Riot did care and was working to actually do lore related things. They proved it by basically doing what they hadn't in a long time; released a full story that was compelling, complete and had actual development in it, something that's been a bit lacking sometimes.

Things aren't perfect of course; we still have champions who're essentially not canon at the moment, some places in the world are still basically a name, and there's still many changes to come, but I feel confident that the direction the lore's moving in is a good one, and I'ma keep following it down that road to see where it goes. Where once things were foggy with jagged rocks and spikes now there's an open field with a clear road, and while there's still a bit of mist around the area, things look a lot better from where I'm standing.

The lore this year has been, in my opinion, really great, and I'm eager to see more. It may be a few months out yet since the New Year's fast approaching, but I'm prepped for 2016! All aboard the Mount Targon hype train! Oh and the Shurima train too; it got derailed a bit but they've got it back on the tracks by the looks of it!

Eh,it was alright.I mean I be completely lying if I said,"I'm completely happy with everything. No problems or frustrations what so ever.Who needs a map?".But like I said,it was an alright year in terms of lore.
