In terms of it being canon—these are definitely scenes and events that take place in the world of Runeterra, in the present time. Have we reached those moments in those characters’ arcs yet? No, but we’ve got lots of stories still to come this year, and next…

Haven't seen it around here so better share it. This is making me quite excited for the future Lore, and can't wait to see how we will get there.

But i'm not sure if this applies to the part in Ionia, since it really looked like a part of the Navori battle.

A slightly misleading title for this thread, guys. I'd urge everyone to read what was ACTUALLY said, because it's not this.

Let me just unpack the revelations that come from this.

Jhin is in Piltover, or Camille is in Ionia and has taken a large amount of guards/ police with her. Jhin has for some reason allowed Camille to find him, or has been unable to shake her and set up for a final showdown. Either he was unprepared and loses easily, which I seriously doubt (it would break my suspension of disbelief that this legendary serial killer would go down so easy), or we haven't seen the end of the battle and he has another trick up his sleeve.

Ionia has once again been invaded by Noxus. Yasuo has been redeemed after the events of Confessions of a Broken Blade and fights with Irelia. Given what we know, nothing else seems out of place among the Ionians. Noxus has decided to deploy Sion. Hopefully Swain is a little more strategic than Darkwill, but this battle doesn't say much about that.

Riven has likely been captured in the Ionian Invasion 2 and shipped to Noxus. She is then forced to fight in the arena. We don't know why, but presumably the fight between her and Draven is to the death. One of them is probably going to die. I don't know how Riven gets out of this situation unless she was promised freedom if she won, but I don't know if that's how Noxus works. Noxus might offer her a place in the army, but freedom? Seems unlikely to me.

Hooooold on. That means a second Noxian invasion in Ionia is confirmed? Ionia is screwed now that Darkwill was replaced. The powers of Swains demon will give Noxus a gigantic advantage. Not to mention that Noxus won't make the same mistake of fighting multiple wars simultaneously again. I can't see how Ionia is supposed to repel Noxus without any kind of godly intervention.

I'm really concerned on how Riot will handle the outcome. I don't want to see Noxus fail invasion after invasion, but they can't just make Ionia part of Noxus either.

So in present time Riven's lore isn't real? Yeah, right. Maybe Scaothlocke should do more than pretend editing mistakes aren't his job to catch.

Why is this being downvoted lol.

Edit: I know now, nevermind.

What the hell does he mean by "present time"

Necrit already explained why Awaken cannot be canon. Saying that there's still a lot of stories to tell is kind of a cheap way of saying "anything is possible". By saying that is like saying Skarner is the true killer of Yasuo's master is plausible just because "there's still a lot of stories to tell".

Here's the video though, super well done, do recommend.

A lot of people are saying its not canon or misinterpreting the Original Post in this thread, so here's what Scathlocke and co actually said in that Ask Riot that said Awaken is canon, just so everyone is on the same page:

In terms of it being canon—these are definitely scenes and events that take place in the world of Runeterra, in the present time. Have we reached those moments in those characters’ arcs yet? No, but we’ve got lots of stories still to come this year, and next…
