Dr. Mundo: Should he embrace the agony?

I was thinking for a new backstory for Dr. Mundo, maybe helping the process for his VGU (we NEED it next year, Riot!). The new iteration of his lore makes it a complete mysterium where he got his powers, while before he was the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde trope by mixing a potion to become the perfect soldier.

Both versions don't really hit the mark for me, but I had an idea for a new origin of his regenerative powers and his obsession with pain. The cause I had in mind would be Evelynn. Evelynn

It would basically be an alternative version for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, he became like that by his own experiments (so yeah, he used to be a doctor for real again), but the core of his experiments was a sample from Evelynn that he got when he encountered her in the depths of Zaun (and he survived it!). It just makes so much sense for me. Both have skin color that goes in the same direction, both are tying together pleasure and pain, Evelynn even has a passive that gives her high regeneration in her demon shroud.

I think a scientist who experimented with demonic powers in Zaun could be interesting, but his motivation is not entirely scientific. Dr. Mundo always has been a masochist and this encounter with that beautiful creature ripping his flesh from the bones fascinated him. He is experimenting to become more enduring for her gifts.

Its a very interesting idea, I like it better than his current status. I don't know why, but it really bothered me when they made him a "mystery" and a "pretend doctor". He's DOCTOR Mundo, I liked the idea that he is a self-made man, he MADE himself this monster. That makes him even more of a monster. We need more PhDs on the Champ roster anyways.

I see one big flaw in this though.

Evelynn is a demon.

What I mean by this is that Evelynn is a creature of magic.

Zaun is notorious for not being able to combine magic and technology, what's commonly referred to as Hextech.

Hextech is something that's almost exclusively something found in Piltover.

Zaun only has access to Chemtech.

This is one of the reasons why Noxus has spies in Piltover, because they can't get their hands on Hextech from their usual buyer, Zaun.

So unless Mundo's supposed to be a doctor from Piltover, this doesn't really work.

SatomiKun! I do not know how well you know the DrMundo main reddit, but I say we should beg them to create a mega rework thread, I totally agree he should again be a doctor, that'd make him worser and more eviler than Urgot for purposefully becoming a monster like this.

Just revert it to the Jekyll/Hyde story. That was always a perfect thematic microcosm of Zaun and it's who Mundo was for YEARS before the sewer baby story which is actually garbage writing.
