What's with the First Strike and PROJECT chests?

I've just learned about Riot's idea for distributing the new "first strike" bonus with upcoming PROJECT skins. Let's say I bought PROJECT Ashe chest and unlocked the icon with the first strike during these 6 days but bought the skin AFTER that period. And now emerges a question: Will I get the first strike border even if I didn't own the skin during the first week of release?
