More pseudo lore... on items
Hey, people seemed to like my last short list of items and some fictitious lore I made up for them - just a few lines or a paragraph, so I decided to write some more and see where it goes. If you guys like it, suggest me some specific item(s) and I'll do my best to write something about them. It might not be the next day, but I'll get to it.
These wisps are thought to come from the souls of magical faerie-like creatures from the region of Ionia. Since the harvesting of a soul requires the killing of the being... ionian's tend to frown upon this and depending on the region of Runeterra... the possession and sale of wisps may be illegal. And I wouldn't recommend hunting for them yourself if you do use them... it's said a certain small purple-y creature just might turn you into a bunny if she catches you doing so.
are all "novelty" items sold by a company specializing in oversized items in their Big & Tall lineup. They also have more formal wear... for when you're not trying to kill someone.
was discovered largely by accident. A Piltover hextech researcher with nothing to show for himself ended up accidentally knocking over some vials and starting a chain reaction that resulted in a moderate lab room explosion. Realizing his clumsiness had started a cascading reaction that would explode and that the door was too far away, he hid under the nearest desk and pulled a box in front of him to shield him as best as possible. When the explosion stopped, he saw the devastation was extreme... possibly the last of his money and his career as a hextech researcher. But how had he survived when the box in front of him had been incinerated and small orange shards been made from whatever had been in the box he'd ordered from Demacia? He wondered at that, eventually bending down to examine the orange shards more closely. They had a racing glimmer to their edges... almost as if magic lay trapped inside of them. Salvaging what he could of the lab and taking the shards with him, he set about examining them closely. After numerous tests, backtracking records of shipments he'd received from Demacia, and a few planned magical explosions (on a smaller scale this time), he had found his answer. A sand from Demacia mixed with a certain few other materials (classified, so I am not allowed to tell you) create small hexagonal crystals which can be forged together to create magic absorbing swords. This is different from petricite - which nullifies magic. These hexagonal crystals become more potent and amplify the damaging ability of the weapon they create when enough magic is pumped into them. However, too much magic absorption and the pulsing magic racing around their internal edges becomes too much to contain and they explode - shattering the weapon and rending it useless. In short order, our clumsy hextech researcher created the short sword known as a hexdrinker. It would later be followed by the larger sword... maw of malmortius - but that's another story.
created by one of heimerdinger's students to try to get his attention at the academy where heimer is a professor, the student stole some of heimer's rockets, strapped it to a high tech belt with flight control systems installed, and launched himself sky high in near the academy's center square when heimer was doing an outdoor demonstration for university sponsors, visitors, and potential future students. The poor student forgot one crucial piece... heimer's rockets are designed to explode after traveling a certain distance. While he survived thanks to a mech driving yordle passing through who was able to catch him before he fell and broke any bones, several roofs of the university's nearby buildings caught on fire from the exploding rocket belt. And so the fire brigade had to be called. Led by fire fighter tristana, the fire was put out with minimal damage to buildings and no loss of life. Largely due to this, and to the otherwise intelligent design of the rocket belt heimer decided not to expel the aspiring student but instead to assign him an individual research project working directly under his supervision... to perfect the belt... and to peel potatoes for the university cafeteria for the next whole month.
speaking of Heimer... did you know he's actually collaborated with Ryze? As we all know, Ryze is concerned with misuse of magic and runes. He's actually become so consumed with concern about this that he went to visit heimer a few months back. It was a real blast at his outdoor demonstration - or so I heard. Anyways, he asked heimer to help him design a tool that could cage and amplify magic - not dampen or trap it the way hextech or petricite does. This is the first prototype. And while it appears to be much similar and a waste of time as far as heimer is concerned - aside from the generous funds it provides for his other projects at the university - ryze knows the real reason for it. As he continued collecting powerful runes, ryze realized at some point... such powerful magics could grow out of control or be exploited by someone as powerful as him to do devastating evil and possibly even overpower him... since he's unwilling to personally use such great evils even to battle other evil. So he wanted a tool that could harness the abilities of such an attack and contain them - throwing back an even more powerful spell at his opponents w/o all the nasty effects world runes tend to unleash as a side effect. Stationing many of these spell binders around the target can create - or so ryze hopes - a containment field. If anything attacks one of the spellbinders, they'll be hit back with a more potent version (again w/o all the nasty side effects) of that same spell... hopefully rendering an opponent neutralized. The trick is to keep their purpose a secret... lest someone use several of these to contain HIM. Although currently the individual binders are not strong enough to absorb and reflect magic on the level ryze can put out when he has a mind to.
