Where Mount Targon is.

So, I haven't touched up on lore for a while but, I was under the impression that Mount Targon and Freljord were touching. In the lore matching them together just made sense to me. Talking about how cold it was and the people even sound like they could have been from near Freljord. How the tribes and villages worked, even some champions. I already knew Demacia and Freljord were touching based on what was said in the lore. But, having Targon in between Demacia and Freljord just made sense to me. Champions like Taric Taric , who was from Demacia then later went to the Mountain made it seem like it wasn't that far away. When the Valoran map came out I was a little puzzled when I saw Targon and Shurima bordering each other. In my mind they were no where near each other. I am very interested in what everyone thinks about this and if it was always meant to be this way if it was something made on the spot when Riot released the map of Valoran. I know the map has been out for awhile I just recently had a look at it though. I also haven't really kept up with the lore since Jhin Jhin came out.

Mount Targon's position was changed during development of the map. In the AMA Bioluminescence said:

So, Targon used to be in a different place - it used to be in that chain of mountains between Demacia and Noxus - I, same as some other players, had assumed that it could be closer to Demacia for Taric's exile. However, it was moved to its current position because Taric's exile (the Crown of Stone) shouldn't be a 'simple' jaunt down the road to a neighboring region - it's an epic journey that no-one is supposed to survive. Far enough away to be almost mythical.

There's a map for a reason, and going to Targon is a punishment for Demacians for a reason.

If Targon is supposed to be greek inspired it wouldnt make sense if it was between shurima(africa/middle east) and valoran(europe) but its in shurima which is in the african/middle eastern inspired continent. I would prefer it to be in southern valoran. I also want shurima/kumungu to be bigger

if it was always meant to be this way

Yes, in fact, it was always this way. At least, since the old map was made in the early days 2011-2012

Please note MT. Targon use to be MT. Gargantuan back then.

I too thought it was strange and out of place when I first saw the map. Having a freezing cold mountain next to a blazing desert just seems so jarring, but then I did some research and realized it makes perfect sense considering Targon’s elevation and how it might cause rainshadow, leaving Shurima dry and arid as a result.

Well if you head south from Targon you would hit the Freljords.
