The void is trying to get into Runeterra through the portals, one is in Frejlord and one in Icathia and tiny ones spread all around.
It's not a place, but more like a state of being, a dimension. Nothingness. The void rifts on Runeterra are "bridges", the deeper you go the closer to the true void you come. However you'd get unmade in the process. Reading suggestion: Where Icathia once stood
