The magic of League of Legends theory

READ BEFORE READING THE THEORY PLEASE!!! I wanted to give this theory in the form of a document so that it would look very very organised, but sadly that wasn't possible... So let me explain something in advance: The subtypes of cosmical magic are magic of physics and spirit magic. The subtypes of magic of physics are Force magic, Time magic and Light magic. The subtypes of Spirit magic are the shadow arts, other ninja techniques and Spirit walking so main type is cosmical, subtypes are physics and spirit, and even smaller ones are for example force magic and the shadowarts.

The concept of this theory: The magic from runeterra are all subtypes of cosmical magic. VOID MAGIC IS NOT INCLUDED SINCE THE VOID ARE NOT FROM THE SAME UNIVERSE/DIMENSION AS RUNETERRA Cosmical magic: Cosmical magic is magic coming from out of the cosmos as it suggests. Users of this type of magic are for example Aurelion Sol and Soraka. You can see this from their powers having to do with things from space (stars and comets for example). This is the supreme type of magic in this theory. Creation of subtypes of magic: As seen as above I say that you have the celestial type of magic is ranked higher than other types as physics magic and spirit magic. This is because this theory revolves around the idea that these types of magic got split off the cosmical magic when Runeterra got created. Magic is stored in the runes. And the most powerfull of all runes are the so said world runes. These are the runes that are being hunted by ryze because of them being to strong for being used here. In ryze his lore it is even said that these runes created this world, but if it would be made out of just runes it would be impossible to live on, so we will asume that this world which is capable of living got made out of a collision of two huge rocks/comets similar to our world. If one of these rocks was a rock of runes it would be natural that it got destroyed, which leaves fragments of world runes. At this moment the world runes lost their true power and started having more resemblance towards magic different to the cosmic magic. This is where the subtypes of magic would have started existing.

Magic of Physics: One of the two subtypes I chose for this theory is the magic of physics. What I intend to say with this is that this is the magic that seems to change the law of our known physics. The things I chose for this as examples are force magic, time magic and light magic since these seem to be some of the easiest examples.

• Force magic: With this type of magic I mean Syndra her power (and whoever else is able to do even the slightest of what she can do). It looks like she has a ordinary type of dark magic, but if you think about it she doesn’t . What she seems to control is the power to change the power of force as thought in physics. As example she has the power to creat some kind of orbs. These orbs seem just to be some force eminating sources though. Why you might ask? Because the force pushes away all the molecules, and even some light particles, which would create a ball which would seem to appear as balls of darkness. Her other power is the power to lift objects, which is just possible to translate as nullifying the Fmass of that object and then lifting it by creating a Force around it to push it in whatever way she wants it. She also has the power to push away anything away which would als just be a Force coming from out of her body. In Syndra her lore she is even able to lift up an entire building, which would be by nullifying the Force on the building in my opinion.

• Time magic: Another law of nature which is being disrupted with magic is time. Zilean his new lore states that zilean uses an arcane magic to change the past, the present and the future.

• Light magic: Another form of magic which has to do with physics is light magic. The example on this one is Lux. She is a powerful mage who can send out energy in the form of light, and then control it.

Spirit magic: Another known subtype of magic is spirit magic. This is magic were there seems to be usage of the spirit or the spirit world. This is a type of magic that seems to be mostly practised in Ionia and in parts of the Freljord. You can see many monks and ninjas use this. Examples of this are the forbidden shadow practice, the oftenly used ninja techniques and spirit walking.

• Shadow practice: This magic being used by Zed and Kayn is mentioned in zed his new lore as a part of the spirit magic. First I used to think of Zed his ability as just the power of controlling shadows, but now I think that he is actually able to split his spirit away out of his body by leaving it around on a place where he has been, after which it returns to the body, and maybe with a chance of it fading which might be why it was forbidden.

• The ninja techniques: I don’t know how far the normal training gives the ninjas power to connect to the spirit realm, but I know Shen can use a sword from this place and connect to it.

• Spirit walking: Spirit walking is used by a tribe from the freljord. The known spirit walker right now is Udyr. This way of using Spirit magic is by connecting with the spirit realm and using the power of spirit beings as a physical human being.

Void power I think that the types of magic that I mentioned earlier appears as magic from this universe, but another well known type of “magic” is the power coming out of the void. I think this is the reason the celestial beings want to fight the power of the void. They don’t understand it because it opposes their superiority which they have lived by since forever. They have NEVER been rivaled with their power and now a strange type of dimension starts making contact with the universe of Runeterra and the cellestial beings don’t like it. But if there is one thing I think you can say about the Void power is that it isn’t magic in the lore of league since it doesn’t come off the celestial magic which would be the one that made all the other types.

Darkin power: With the release of the Varus comic we found out some interesting stuff. One of the most interesting things we found out is the fact that the blood magic (mostly used by Noxus) isn’t from the realm of Runeterra. We still have to find out how it actually works and where it does originate from, but it is very interesting to think about. The bloodmagic makes immortality possible. Look at Vladimir for instance. He has lived since the foundation of Noxus, and he brought back Sion to live. It leaves us to think how far this magic goes. We all know about the Shadow Isles and their ghoulish form of immortality. Is this magic from the isles a variaton on the bloodmagic from the darkin? We can do nothing but wait in the end, and hope that we will get some expansion into this ASAP.

SUB THEORIES: Veigar controlls a celestial magic world rune: Veigar his new lore states that he wants to go beyond the yordle magic (maybe another sub magic type this yordle magic?) so he starts reading arcane texts. But the power Veigar gets isn’t just the power to destroy an army and land as mentioned in ryze’s lore. Veigar can actually use dark matter and primordial energy! If there is any kind of other arcane texts except for something that actually created the planet and which possibly came out of the times of creation to have energy from the creation itself please do tell me. You might think: wouldn’t it be too overpowered in lore but also in game? Well lore wise it is so that Veigar is still learning it, and Ryze might even come to take it some day, but in game… Even his in game capabilities can be seen as a reason to think he has a world rune, since his power is actually able to grow FOREVER!
