Aurelion Sol - Responsible for the Crystal Scar?
This was just a theory I had when some bits of information started clicking together in my head after reading Aurelion Sol's bio, and checking some possible correlations from lore resources; in particular, Sharjo's massive lore post.
So how would a celestial star-forging dragon be responsible for the formation of the Crystal Scar? To answer that, a few things must be considered.

The locale Mt. Targon is north of Shurima. The formerly vast empire was more than likely a hot bed for Void incursions via rifts in reality. However, the Voidlings wouldn't be restricted in where they traveled; some Void species are capable of flight (potentially Kha'Zix's species, as well as the particular ones that Aurelion Sol destroys - "smoldering husks rain from the skies," implying flight). It would make sense that an Aspect would climb down a ways to near the borders of Targon and Shurima if a Void threat was imminent.

Aurelion Sol's Lore His lore mentions the word "scar" in particular to describe what he's done to the Void rift after crashing into it with the force of a fairly large comet.
Even my Targonian masters have rarely witnessed such a display of my power. Certainly, no terrestrial world has ever born scars as severe as what is left of that once-verdant valley. When I am finished, nothing remains.
In the glowing aftermath of my carnage, the smoldering once-mountains collapse into the molten rubble streams now flowing through the valley. This is the scar I have left upon this world.
Perhaps the force of his impact caused a sort of reaction - what if, when he closed the rift, the side-effect was magical crystal formation? Skarner and his kind would make sense; they could have potentially been desert scorpions that were changed irrevocably by the magic of the location.
These were just some things I noticed after reading Aurelion Sol's lore. It may not be 100% accurate or correct, but hey, speculation and theory-crafting is always fun, amirite?
