Why do People Say That Riven Killed Yasuo's Elder

Riven Riven didn't kill the Ionian Elder because she was fighting the whole time it even says so in her Lore- "During one bitter engagement, Riven's unit became surrounded by Ionian forces. They called for support as the enemy closed in around them. What they received instead was a barrage of biochemical terror launched by Singed. Riven watched as around her Ionian and Noxian alike fell victim to an unspeakably gruesome fate. She managed to escape the bombardment, though she could not erase the memory."
She could not have killed him for this very reason, the killer has to be someone else this is another quote to explain it- "Counted dead by Noxus, she saw an opportunity to start anew. She shattered her sword, severing ties with the past, and wandered in self-imposed exile - on a quest to seek atonement and a way to save the pure Noxian vision in which she believed." She left the fight. She stopped fighting if she is seeking atonement do you think she would kill the Elder to get it, NO. "Yasuo was charged with guarding an Ionian Elder, but, foolishly believing his blade alone could make the difference, he left his post to join the fray. By the time he returned, the Elder had been slain." Riven left their is no possible way she could have gotten through the enemy forces just to kill the emperor, she chose to stop fighting, she even shattered her sword. A weapon that she got for being a strong warrior, that sword is an honor to carry, yet she broke it. She left, the end, sure she has A wind move, it doesn't mean she mastered it. I'm pretty sure that someone's going to say that she doesn't need to master it to use the technique, well you're wrong. "Yasuo is a man of resolve, an agile swordsman who wields the wind itself to cut down his foes." You have to master it to control the wind. When YasuoYasuo fought his brother his brother didn't use the technique and the reason for that is because he can't since he didn't master it. You have to master it to use it and riven wasn't with the Ionian's learning the technique she is noxian, their enemies. So people please understand that teese theories are not true and no matter how much you try to convince people that she killed him i stated the truth and used quotes from lore. Please stop these theories they are Baseless.

There is one big hole in your logic: No one says that Riven killed the elder after she defected from Noxus, she could have done it while she was still part of Noxus.

Her Lore even mentions how her work was mainly about slaughtering the helpless(and if the elder did not have any other guards, then he was most likely helpless) with no real challenge.

And as for why she is suspected the most: Well its mostly because she is the only other champ besides yasuo to use a wind cut, even if hers is a product of the magic in her sword,it is still the same effect. But not only that, she was also present in the ionia-war and an enemy of the ionians,so not only is she the only champ who has a fitting technique, but she was also in the same war and had a motif(in that the elder would be a valuable target)

However in the end there is no proof that it was Riven,it is easily possible that riven is merely a red herring to provide us a possible suspect besides the real killer.

Those aren't necessarily the same battle. I'm reasonably sure that Riven was one of only a few survivors, given that everyone in Noxus thought she was dead. The battle that killed Yasuo's mentor could easily have been before the one in Riven's lore.

What Riven did after her self imposed exile is unknown. What she's doing right now is mostly a mystery, where she even is right now is unknown. The reason Riven is the prime suspect is that right now, she's the only person in all of Ionia we know of with knowledge of a wind technique. Hell even Yasuo comments on it after seeing an enemy Riven use Broken Wings:

Yasuo "Wait, that technique...huh." Yasuo "Huh, three swift strikes..."

The same happens when he sees a Wind Slash from an enemy Riven:

Yasuo ""Another wind blade#'"" Yasuo ""Who taught you that?""

These are techniques Yasuo has access to himself, albiet in a slightly different way, through his use of Steel Tempest.

Riven likely didn't kill the elder, we know that, but that's assuming the facts at base value. We don't know how Riven has spent her time in Ionia, and perhaps she spent time under the tutelage of the same school that Yasuo went to, hoping to find atonement by starting a fresh, and learning through the technique of Ionians. It's highly unlikely that Riven learned how to use the abilities she showcases in the game during her time in Noxus, given their in combat techniques mostly revolve around brute force attacks. Riven uses her sword with the grace and deadly technique of an Ionian, at least in my opinion.

This is really a very round about way of me saying "Riven's the only suspect since we know it wasn't Yasuo" and it's true; we don't have any other suspects. No names, nothing. Riven is the only person who fits the criteria of the murderer (capable of using a windblade technique) aside from Yasuo, who we also know has an alibi. Technically Riven doesn't because we know jack diddly squat about what she did post exile, and we don't know how timings work for this. The invasion went over the course of many years so the potential of these things coinciding is there. We don't know how long Yasuo neglected guarding the elder, we don't know what Riven was doing at the time.

I'm going to repeat this: We don't know what Riven was doing, has been doing or is doing right now. "Seeking atonement" is a goal, not an action. While I agree Riven probably didn't kill the elder, or at least didn't kill them for malicious reasons, lore doesn't exist to paint her as innocent. Right now we only have Yasuo's account to go on, and we know he's not guilty. We're working with incomplete evidence here, as is Yasuo, and Yasuo probably doesn't even know Riven exists right now.

I think one of the big clues about that is Yasuos reaction to seeing Riven use her wind slash, in game he has a specific quote when she uses it, saying "Who taught you that", rather than accusing Riven he seems to think she might hold clues to what happened to the elder, also probably why people ship RivenxYasuo
