Petricite and Demacia - Theories

So the lore creation of Petricite in Galio's lore presents quite a few interesting insights into Demacian champions. If the trees can be ground up and crafted into brick and mortar, there's no reason they couldn't be ground up and used to create dyes and paints. Here's some theories about the use of Petricite as a potential paint/dye or embedded in armor: Garen and Poppy both in-game are resistant to not only physical damage, but also magical damage. The possibility that they wear armor imbedded or painted with Petricite seems pretty good. Fiora is able to deflect magical attacks as well as weapon strikes. If her blade is partially composed of or coated in a Petricite compound, this would explain her capabilities with Riposte. Lux was sent abroad to study magical arts. This would make sense in terms of Demacia, as she would be unable to practice magic within the city, consider the absorbative nature of the stonework.

However - What it doesn't explain is Vayne. Her story begins by witnessing her parents die to a night hag, who employed dark, cruel magics to torture and kill them. If the city is built with Petricite in the walls and stonework, there is little to no way that a dark sorceress could have employed such vile magic within the city. Vayne may need to have some lore work done with this new element in Demacian architecture. Thoughts? Am I crazy? Any other Demacian fit with the concept of Petricite?

Don't forget Mordekaiser's story as well -- when he tried to strike down a Demacian knight with a bolt of necromantic magic, it was stopped by the knight's armor, likely coated in petricite, with Morde immediately recognizing it as Demacian armor.

What interests me is not only how petricite relates to Demacia, but also to Noxus. If you look at Noxus's secret ancient aristocracy -- LeBlanc, Swain, Vladimir -- they're all mages, and the city itself was founded around the fortress of one of the most powerful magic users in history. In Aatrox's lore, and even the background in Summoner's Rift, you can see a conflict between the Magelords and the Protectorate, with one faction championing magic, and the other standing against it. It's likely that the Magelords were early Noxians, and the Protectorate early Demacians, and that their age-old conflict hinges not only upon territorial dispute, but upon their influence on magic. Noxus likely attracted those who felt they could gain power through any means, including magical force, whereas Demacia, protected by its petricite walls, became a haven for those who were threatened by magic.

Looking at more Demacians, it's also likely that their attitute towards magic depends on their nobility, or at least their distance from their city's walls. Quinn, for example, is a commoner from Demacia's borders, and seems to have a pretty indifferent attitude towards magic, whereas Lucian and Senna, likely noblemen, both came from an ancient tradition of magic-hunters. I agree that Vayne might need a story update, but it's likely that, if her parents were killed by a witch, it was likely done outsize of Demacia's walls.

OP what I think you missed about Petricite is that it is magic absorbing, and to a degree magic dampening. But it doesnt create an entire magic free zone. Demacias walls are magic resistant, making it very hard for Noxus or the Black Mist to invade. hHowever a dark magic user once inside the walls would still be able to use magic.

I heard somewhere that Demacian steel can at least hurt the undead from the Shadow Isle's (though I'm not sure where to find this piece of information, if it's even a thing). So would the Shadow Isles even be able to invade Demacia given it's constructed with petricite? And would the Black Mist animate Galio given its magical origin?

I feel like if the Shadow Isles ever managed to take control of or just become a constant issue for the rest of Valoran, people would be trying to get into Demacia. Of course this is assuming others know about petricite.
