Dark Cosmic Jhin First Impressions

There will be a much longer post when the skin is actually released, but I wanted to give my first impressions on it.

There are quite a few of you that know that this skin has haunted me for months. Just waiting with no news, no teasers, nothing. It gave me really bad anxiety, but honestly, this was well worth it.

  • The skin itself looks really nice, but I feel like its color palette is a bit similar to Blood Moon. The red-violet, the blue-violet, the white, the gold. Its not that similar, but I would have liked something a bit more different, personally.

  • The ult is absolutely stunning. It took my breath away.

  • The recall is dramatic, and I'd expect nothing less from a Jhin legendary. He even has 4 arms! You absolute madmen gave him 4 arms.

  • The lore implications for this skin intrigue me. "Dark Cosmic". So he was a Cosmic, but the Dark Star got him? Or did he go willingly? Was he evil all along? Hopefully there's some lore for these, like a short story, cause I'm really interested in this.

From what I can see, there is no face reveal for our man Jhin in this skin, but I'd have to take a closer look to be absolutely sure(unless a Rioter/someone else would like to confirm that there is/isn't a face reveal). That looks like a mask, though, but I think half his face is showing? Idk. I'm still worried about it, honestly.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what else this skin has to offer, though, face reveal or not. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. My man looks stunning. Especially excited for the splash art.

Oh, and the Jhin mains I'm in immediate contact with like it too, but they're obsessed with trying to figure out what his auto attack will sound like. Hopefully its really satisfying.

my issue is Jhin already has great skins. it would have been better to give this to a champ who doesnt gave newer skins (Xerath even Morde etc.). Its just getting old seeing the exact same champs get all the good skins: Lux, Ez, Jhin etc.

dark star jhin has good visuals but not animations they replaced the gun spinning animation the crit animation the amazing ult animation with what ? opening his arms ? no gun movement ? where is the recoil ? where is the insanity when he runs ? this skin does not look like jhin it it looks like just a high being who wants destruction this is jhin we are talking about this is just dark star not dark star jhin i don't see an insane character i just see a god and that ruins it his not a marksman with this skin his not jhin his just a mage with a cape that shoots balls not bullets maybe take out the gun why not ? thats the only thing you left in there and the theme is there anything to say ? you killed him with that skin no violin ? im so done riot

I might be biased due to how, long ago, it was myself who posted a concept around Dark Star Jhin, but I love it.

I understand that some might think that this theme doesn't fit Jhin, but in my oppinion, Dark Star is the most fitting skin for Jhin.

There aren't many ways as good as killing celestials and twisting whole galaxies to broadcast something like Jhin's art, while also remaining undoubtedly beautiful due to how mystical and shiny Celestials are.

Jhin itself, due to how obsessed is with perfection, could only look like a holy celestial even through in every universe the truth remains, that he is a monster inside, and we get to see an "unmasking" during recall, when he reveals his true nature as herald of the Dark Star.

It seems incredibly on point regarding Jhin, I only hope particles and voicelines are on par with what Jhin considers perfection

Having now looked at the skin, it's interactions and animations, all I can think is....

Man did they not do Aetherwing Kayle justice. Her auto attack animations used to be this crisp flowing force that cracked on each auto, now they aren't that much different to base model.

Yet this Jhin skin, the animations are completely different, it's smooth, his voice is great, the animations unique. What happened Riot? Surely revamping so many skins at once didn't cause you to forget the value the skins have.

I thought the theme won't fit Jhin at all but man this skin is crazy gorgeous. Riot proved it again that any theme can perfectly fit on a well made champion with great storyline.

I myself never really had a main because I never found any champ fun enough to play for a long time then I found jhin and got obsesse with everything that he is. His lore is brilliant and his in-game theme and music are gorgeous. I am on a quest to get all his skins the ones I need are skt jhin and this one. I absolutely adore this skin and hope he wil get more in the future.

I really like Dark Cosmic Jhin as well as Jhin as a character but just really dislike the auto-attack animation where he just... floats the gun. I understand that it's meant to fit into the theme of him manipulating the stars I guess but I just find it weird-looking and its the only thing keeping me from buying the skin.

Jhin's skins follow a dark theme, so i suppose this works, but I always thought about a more light color, fabulous skin, like a star guardian Jhin or something silly like that.

I took a second look at the PBE video and it looks like jhin actually shoots the curtain call bullets from his hands, I also want to assume that he turns into his Dark Butterfly/ Demon form from recall during curtain call to fire out his bullets.
