What region would you want the last unknown Darkin (Not counting Varus' sister) to be from?

--------JUST SO YOU ARE ALL AWARE I KNOW THAT VARUS' SISTER IS ONLY KNOWN TO BE LOCATED IN OR SOMEWHERE NEAR SHURIMA THIS IS JUST THOUGHTS ON THE OTHER FINAL DARKIN THAT WE HAVE NO INFO ON AT ALL AS OF YET AND SORRY FOR ALL THE READING!---------

Okay so I love the Darkin and I always love anything to do with them so I wanted to see what everyone thinks about the last unkown Darkin and where they would be located. Just so everyone is aware the current 4 were located

Aatrox- Runeterra (in general yet it might change to have him be apart of Freljord since thats would make sense with the Tryndamere stuff)

Rhaast- Noxus (Yes as I am aware Kayn is apart of Ionia and Rhaast is always with the edgy boy but Rhaast was found in Noxus and either buried or just in the dirt I believe correct me if I'm wrong)

Varus- Ionia (Varus as we are aware was held in the pit of Pallas in Ionia until being freed thanks to Kai and Valmar donating their bodies)

Varus' Sister- Shurima (We may have very little info on this Darkin female but what we can speculate is that shes located in Shurima given Varus' comic)

Now that we have all the other Darkin split into the different areas of Runeterra and having a general idea that those areas are covered for Darkin I want peoples thoughts on mister/miss 5 what region they'll be located, weapon, and anything else they think would make a cool concept.

-This is my concept of the 5th Darkin- 5 is located on either the seas or areas around Bilgewater a captain of a vessel to Rival Gangplank in his prime. 5 was sealed in a cutlass sealed in a chest and tossed over the edge to be trapped for eternity. Years and years after being left to die the whole Burning Tides story takes place above this sealed Darkin even breaking his chest revealing his deep red glow in the murky depths men would sink to the bottom as the bodies pilled or rather sunk 5 was getting stronger and more alluring to any man who could see his glow to grab his handle. 1 dead man from Gangplanks crew with barely any strength and life sunk to the abyss of the seas what did he do with the last efforts of strength in him? He reached out to the glowing red cutlass and for the first time in centuries 5 felt the touch of another living being he quickly took advantage of this vessel given before him. 5 consumed this mans essence and man that body his own swimming to the surface for his first real breath in ages. With this body what was a ancient and deadly creature trapped for so long without any contact suppose to do? 5 could not remember his mission in the first place being left in solitude for so long he embraced the culture of Bilgewater becoming a powerful pirate captain only thought of being legend but this Darkin was alive and well only knowing of ruling the seas he sought only fortune and rule of the seas.

TLDR- Darkin trapped in a cutlass and in a chest trapped in solitude finally is brought back with the help of the Burning Tides battle above him and a unnamed pirate to be his vessel years after he's become a legend of a creature that sails the seas waiting to claim Bilgewaters throne.

--NOTES/RAMBLES ABOUT 5 NO TLDR FOR THIS-- I got this idea from Davy Jones from the POTC movies with a powerful captain that is not human. I love pirates and Darkin and wanted a way to connect the 2 without 5 being some simple demon who "loves to murder and only that" I think Varus and Rhaast cover that idea already and I knew it wouldn't make sense for a Darkin to just forget about his race normally if he had company to keep him remembering the days that passed so I thought of him being trapped in not only his weapon but that being trapped in a chest would also allow 5 to not remember anything after centuries passing with no idea of how long they've passed causing him to lose memories of his past. Also the chest can be a reference to the Dead Mans Chest which Davy Jones sealed his heart yet the heart in this circumstance would be the weapon. 5 doesn't hate humans like the others do he cares for his shipmates as far as a ruthless captain would and he knows he is a stronger being but doesn't wish to destroy humanity. He cares for gold, rum, and to rule the seas and eventually the land of Bilgewater. 5 wears pirate clothing yet he doesn't use a flintlock pistol because he prefers to get close and slash his enemies to bits. He would probably ask for something in return for siding with the other 4 instead of doing it to kill all humanity. He wouldn't really know about Gangplank other then him being the old ruler and focus his attention on Miss Fortune since she rules Bilgewater at the moment. As for a lane I would see him being a midlaner as he would either be support or mid and since we are getting a Bilgewater support again it feels better for the character and as a Darkin comp to be a mid laner (Also Twisted Fate is the only other mid laner from Bilgewater not counting Gangplank).

Hope you liked this and give your thoughts on the last Darkin! And again sorry for all the reading its a problem of mine to right alot.

Just want to throw out an odd idea: How about Zaun?

All the Darkin to this point have different types of relationships to their host. Aatrox got fully consumed by the Darkin, being a full demon now. Kayn is still fighting an even fight with Rhaast with unknown result. Varus has that triangle with the 2 lovers, supporting each other to resist the Darkin together and hoping to be able to seperate from it or defeat it some day. We don't know about the female Darkin yet, but I am fairly sure she will have another dynamic again. Maybe more coexistence?

Anyway, that being said, I think a champion from Zaun could have another interesting relationship to the Darkin. Maybe a scientist was able to get his hands on one of these weapons and instead of foolishly putting himself in the trial of the demon, he built a device to leech the power of the Darkin, without being in danger of being consumed or corrupted by it.

He basically enslaves the Darkin with a machine, taking away any hope from the creature to be free some day. I think this could work out well and could have a nice mixture of fantasy elements and science, meanwhile all the other Darkin are majorly fantasy inspired.

And it could open up another point of view. Usually, the Darkin are pictured as these cruel murder machines trying to conquer the human mind, taking away their body and take revenge on the human race. In this scenario, we could feel some empathy with the Darkin, being trapped without any hope and picturing that humans are able to be even worse monsters.

I almost said Demacia, but they have plenty of capable fighters. Then i realized we already have two Darkin fighters... I sure as hell dont want a shadow isles darkin, and the kumungu jungle doesnt seem to exist in modern lore, in favour of Ionia.

Bilgewater seems a decent enough idea, and i could certainly see Kayn getting a bilgewater skin to go with Aatrox’s - but a cutlass? Gangplank’s already wielding a burning one, so he holds dominion over that thematic. Unless we’ll see an eventual Darkin rework of Nautilus, i can’t picture a suitable thematic for Bilgewater.

Gameplay-wise...

If not for Kai’sa, i’d say a Void or Icathia darkin to fill out the team comp - the darkin are only missing a mid laner, ideally a mage as i believe the fourth darkin will be a support.

Although Varus deals hybrid damage, a darkin comp would be rather unwieldy with a quadruple AD build path for 4 out of 5 team members along with two basic attackers. I doubt Aatrox’s gameplay update will change the core of his playstyle.

Story-wise...

I’d say Demacia makes the most sense for a mage. Mages are detested and in hiding in Demacia - this sets the precedent for a person to hear the whispers of a Darkin promising them power, freedom of persecution or similar - security, in return for either a partnership like Rhaast’s or a conquest like Aatrox.

Honestly, what i’d like the most to see would be a less demonic darkin - as it is a mage, it could be an intellectual that freely aids their wielder rather than control them, as long as their goals coincide. But that is only wishful thinking on my part;

The Darkin are warlike demons with distinct superiority complexes, and as such i figure they’ll all have pretty disagreeable personalities.

Perfect for League players to identify with.

Outer space. Landed on Runeterra on a meteorite.

I kind of wish that the 5 th darkin is Mordekaiser armor and instead of a battle of control it just straight up submit to Mordekasier.

Which also work if you believe the darkin has a theme connected to 4 horseman

Aatrox war Rhaast death Varus pestilence Sister famine Mordekaiser conquest

Perhaps the Shadow Isles? Before the curse happened they had a lot of magical items, one of them could be a Darkin weapon. It'd be interesting to see how the corruption of the Shadow Isles has effected it.

I presumed that Rhaast was always been in Ionia and that Noxus took it as a trophy, Zed sent Kayn to get that back.

Bandle City. I want a darkin to take over a yordle

I don't think you can compare Swain and Mordekaiser in anyway save for they both called The Immortal Bastion home. One bent a demon to his will, the other was brought back from death time and time again through necromancy. One is the current ruler and is trying to bring the rest of Noxus' enemies to heel, the other is gathering an army of ghosts and undead to reconquer the Bastion and rebuild his empire.

His armour is only black because when he fell the first time they threw him on a pyre to celebrate killing him (or something along those lines), he was in his armour at the time. As far as canon lore is concerned none of the two have been touched by the darkin.

5th darkin being from Bilgewater would make the most sense to me,essentially giving it a "cursed treasure"-feeling.

Terozu4/21/2018, 1:52:55 PM1 votes

...what?

The darkin are based on the four horseman of the apocalypse. She is the last one.

  1. Kumungu Jungle because I can see that the last Darkin will be a really ancient one, kind of an ermit personnality !

  2. Bandle City just because of the laughs seeing a darkin takingover a poor little yordle !

Spideraxe4/21/2018, 3:11:34 PM1 votes

I think Bilgewater, I'd like to think it somehow got lost in the ocean and get like barnacle infested and shizz

It might be neat if the final Darkin was sealed in the Blessed Isles, and the theme there would be dominance between them vs the Black Mist. It would be interesting to see which of the two was stronger...

Part of me hoped that the demon Swain beat was a Darkin, just to show how badass he is. Swain's so badass he turned a demon into a submissive gibbering mess that bends under his will.
