Speaking of future Lore events...
I remember Burning Tides fondly, it was THE event that cemented the new League of Legends canon and brought us a plethora of goodies for us Lorehounds. We got updated Bios, the fleshing out of an entire region, as well as getting a major story arc that involved numerous champions and did something we hadn't seen so far; Progressing the Plot.
Which is why I feel there's a huge opportunity in terms of Lore, Hype and just sheer awesomeness when it comes to a particular plot hook: #Mordekaiser retaking the Immortal Bastion
Throughout the past few lore updates we got a precious few details on Mordekaiser's past, his influence, and his looming threat sprinkled in, hinting at his ultimate goal of reclaiming what was once his. It is an event of monumental proportions, seeing the Iron Revenant come to haunt the usurpers who had made his fortress their new capital.
An event such like this would involve two factions clashing and would provide the Lore team with the opportunity of fleshing out the Past, Present and Future of the Noxians and their predecessor.
What do I mean by that, well, let me show you a few examples:
#The Past
We could get some lore bits on Noxus just after the upstart nation established itself, showing us their rise to power and the former glory of those who had fought, and died, for Noxus.
Sion would be one of the champions featured in such an event, being very crucial to the old Noxus and by proxy, the former Ideals of Mordekaiser and the Noxii tribes after his fall.
The Haemomancer also falls into this category, being an ancient player in this game as was revealed in his updated short bio. Vladimir must have had a part to play in the rise of the empire, and seeing his story, and how his actions might shape the future for his kinsmen would be certainly an interesting thing to behold.
And lastly
The Deceiver was crucial for the fall of Mordekaiser, having stolen his skull to deny him his unholy resurrection.
But she did not just do so for the common good.
Oh no, there are more personal reasons for her to betray her former Emperor, having counted among some of his closest advisors.
She claimed something in the heart of the Immortal bastion for her own, and Mordekaiser would have more than just one score to settle with Evaine.
#The Present
Is haunted by visions of the future, and he has been planning, plotting and battling his way towards a destiny that sees Noxus succeed, and Mordekaiser's impending return would be one of the many stepping stones in his grand game.
As the current de facto leader of Noxus, Swain would have to prove the strength of his leadership to repel the invasion of the dead.
and Co. would be minor players here, but crucial nonetheless. They are the current sons and daughters of Noxus and their blood being spilled would be the price to pay for defeating the Immortal Revenant.
#The Future Remember Burning Tides? Well, we as players had SOME say in the event, being able to choose one side to favor, similar to the whole Versus Events of the past.
And what better way to bring back the player's involvement than the clash of two foes as great as these?
The results wouldn't differ too much, with the main Prize being the defense, or the reclaiming of whatever power source slumbers underneath the Halls of the Immortal Bastion. The Necromantic Well LeBlanc Seized, and the thing that Mordekaiser shall retake to restore his power.
What would be the impact of either outcome?
If Mordekaiser wins, he would be rejuvenated, restored to even greater power than what he held during his Iron reign over Valoran. This result would see Mordekaiser's Ingame Model reflect such a victory, donning the regal reds of a conqueror and mending his armour. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/210208903131168770/472089588232355840/Muerte-B-r.jpg
If he were to be repelled though, well, he'd have to retreat to the isles, beaten and bruised. Which meant that his armour would remain cracked, ruined, to reflect his current dominion of the Isles. Instead of the red cloak, he would wear the mourning colors of Purple hues. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/210208903131168770/472089625540952065/Muerte-SI2.jpg
But hey, maybe that's just me wanting Mordekaiser's VGU to be accompanied by more than just an updated Model, Kit, VO, Bio and color story. Which makes me sound very, very greedy, huh?
Either way, there's a lot of potential to be explored with what I'd call Primordial Noxus and all the machinations of the past. Be it Iron Revenants, Deceivers, Haemomancers and the Glorious dead, there's plenty to explore with this very simple plot hook.
hangs out in the Isles, but she's originally from Noxus. She'd have to choose between her arrangement with the Black Rose and Vilemaw.
would be 100% down with spreading the beauty of undeath to his former homeland...unless he finally got clued in that undeath isn't as great for everyone else as it is for him.
and
would be on Mordekaiser's side because there's plenty of souls to take and people to kill in Noxus.
and
would probably side with Noxus because Noxus is at least a lesser evil than Mordekaiser.
would come regardless of what side she chooses because there's nothing like a war to make large numbers of people willing to give up everything for revenge.
