Over the last few years the power level of just about everyone has been boosted to frankly ridiculous degrees.
The half naked barbarians also had demigods on par with Aatrox in Ornn, Volibear, and likely more. Plus some ridiculously powerful magic. To the point that Riot has dropped hints that Lissandra is likely, magically, much much stronger than we think.
Personally, I was always more interested in watching the barbarians duke it out for a throne. But apprenrly everything is super powerful ancient magic monsters now.
The iceborn aren't just coldresistant,it looks like their bodies are literally made of ice(notice Lissandras death animation) and Greyor says that its rather complicated to kill an iceborn(they likely could reform their bodies),so the iceborn might have been comparable to the ascended in terms of strength and the watchers had a whole army of them which turned on them(and they likely had the support of a few demigods too)

Was it actually confirmed the Frozen Watchers were void?
Because YEARS ago I suggested it on Vel'koz release and no one believed it.
I don't think that the Watchers were powerful warriors necessarily they needed the Iceborn for that. Plus they threw them off a bridge which brings to mind the 300 spartans pushing thousands of Persians off that cliff into the Aegean Sea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znZpNZuh8_c

Correction: The Iceborn were able to, being near immortal humans empowered by the Watchers themselves. And they weren't killed, remember. They were banished/sent howling into the Howling Abyss.
