What do you believe that the last 2 Darkin should be?

With only 2 Darkin left (1 being Varus' sister) what do you believe these last ones should be? What I mean by this is what type of character should they be ,what do you think they're story should be, what weapon do you think they should be, and what nation should they be from?

We have a sword and a bow. Now we need a flamethrower. Everything is better with flamethrowers.

I wanna have the next two darkin be substantially different from the current ones. As such one should be a tank and one should be a mage.

Everyone pictures the lass darkin as having a whip or something and I'm just like "No give me the fucking enormous darkin lass with huge muscles and a massive fuck off hammer/axe/shield or something".

I personally think an axe Darkin would be super neat

Im picturing a midlaner and a support.

The midlaner would focus on slowly sapping the life from enemies close to him/her, kindof similar to Vlad, but not quite as tanky, they would perhaps have an aura similar to that of sunfire, deals X amount of damage every Y seconds and healing for a portion of damage dealt. Spells would mainly to negate burst damage and then to restore a portion of the damage dealt. I envision the ultimate to be something thats's similar to mordes ult, draining the health from targets over a longer peruse of time, but it could be in an AOE and deal less damage then mordes ult, getting more effective as the enemies health gets lower (Think of it as a combination between Morde ult and Morgana W)

The support would be a very aggressive one, similar to Pyke and Thresh, he would have mechanics to keep his allies alive, perhaps he links to an ally at the start of the game, then heals that ally for a portion of the damage he deals, he would also bring high CC to the table in the form of mainly stuns and snares. His ultimate could be some form of suppression or mind control effect, I don't know how it would be implemented, since Mind control can be tricky to balance.

Even if the descriptions don't match what they might be, Im almost certain it will be a support and midlaner, since those are the darken roles we're missing.

Well lets do a quick overview:

  • Aatrox and Rhaast have similar appearances initially so we assumed that most Darkin were the same: Have some sort of horns, red and black color tones & fairly demonic looking. With Varus now being canon as a Darkin, that throws a wrench in a bit as now Darkin can appear a bit more human looking and have purplish color tones.

  • Storywise Aatrox lives for combat, no matter on what side, Rhaast just wants to kill shit, and Varus as far as I know just wants revenge against his captors. Aatrox is still little known about, Rhaast can kill Kayn to take over, and Varus was formed from two people so formation of Darkin varies. Aatrox origins are unknown but Varus and Rhaast typically were found in Ionia.

  • As well the Darkin are typically viewed as the Four Horsemen: War, Death, Famine, & Pestilance (adding 1 for Conquest since there are 5) Aatrox is war, Rhaast is death, and Varus most assume is Pestilance even though I don't see it that much.

With that said now I think it would be interesting if instead of exactly following the 4 horsemen, League develops it own version. We already have War and Death, but Retribution/Vengence for Varus can easily lead to 2 other unique horsemen. So maybe one still could be Conquest but the other could be maybe Anger or Hatred.

If we are going with this, Conquest needs to be the sister, in my mind, without a doubt. Maybe taking form of a whip to satisfy that niche of a champion and if so be from Shurima cause that fits the theme. If not then maybe be different from the rest of Darkin and be a Crown instead since that Conquest usually implies a greater nation or power taking over for a great leader and she's some sort of mage champ and could original from Noxus or even somehow Demacia (don't ask how i'm just thinking of this now as I'm writing this).

For Anger/Hatred he could be some sort of Shield but one that's specifically designed to also be a weapon at the same time of sorts. If not then maybe some sort of armor that possesses people into a frenzy. Maybe could original from Noxus as well, or like the rest of Darkin apparently could be from Ionia.

I've always been against the idea of being multiple Darkin and felt like Aatrox should be the only one of the five we ever get to cement his uniqueness, but if we did get more Darkin I'd like it to involve Swain. While Kayn still has to wrestle for control with his Darkin, Swain's already completely dominated it and made it subject to his will - you've got all these badass Darkin save for the one Swain has beaten so absolutely that it's entirely submissive and even terrified of him.

I honestly have a theory that Morgana will be the next Darkin. There were things floating around talking about someone working on a rework to a champion that was a vampire girl with a scythe. Morgana's lore talks about her getting a power that could defeat Kayle and her army, she has spellvamp as her passive, is getting a rework in the future(along with Kayle), and I could see her with a scythe. If the Darkin are all sealed in weapons, a scythe would be a pretty good one to choose. Also add in the fact that she's female and we know for a fact that one of the Darkin are female(as we've seen I believe 2 Darkin refer to one as "sister", which I'm assuming is not literal sister. That whole "cooperation" thing cHAncEman1292 was speaking of would also seem to fit into this scenario. Morgana bargains to be the host for the Darkin for access to the power to overthrow Kayle's army.

I'd like to see a Shield and a Staff as their weapons, and they'd be the Support (Shield) and Mid (Staff) laners of the Darkin.

Ebonmaw Dragon1/2/2018, 6:02:50 AM1 votes

Well... I think that i have mentioned this before, but I would like to have a Darkin weapon as a champion... like.... literally, just the weapon, without host.

Maybe a support that adds more damage/shields to his allies by "fusing" with them and crowlcontrolls the enemies by controlling them for a short ammount of time.

Maybe a darkin so powerfull, that no one can wield him without dying or something like that.

skarner or jax

DariusDemiurge1/2/2018, 11:33:16 AM1 votes

One should be a magic catalyst weapon, a staff, wand, dagger or large tome/grimoire. To keep feminine like it could be varus sister.

The final one should be a brute but with a deceptive elegance, a chain ball/flail or something similar or maybe as a sort of joke a large simplistic wood club like Havel's dragon tooth club in dark souls. He'd not be as unruly as rhaast acts.

4 Step Cadence1/3/2018, 4:12:05 AM1 votes

A mid laner and a support.

My idea for the mid laner is a blood mage Darkin, with some form of dagger or spiked staff/mace, something that could be used to cut another champion. They could have a bleed debuff that affects their target, and the blood they lose is used against them. The passive could be called Bloodletting or something along those lines, and that could be what causes the bleed effect. Ideas for abilities are the pool of the victim's blood beneath them grabs their legs(a root), a linear burst of blood(for the sake of farming), stabbing/hitting someone with their weapon(melee ability for when people get too close in teamfights and stuff), and the ult could be a drain effect that can only be used if you're below a certain amount of health as a last resort to save yourself/your team. As for appearance, a person not fully consumed by the Darkin, but they've lost their mind to it. So while some of the host's body is still there, they are basically dead.

For the support, we already have a shield(Braum), so I was thinking something more unique, like fans, a fist weapon like brass knuckles, something like that. Maybe a stun or knock up ability, somewhat tanky, ect. For this one, corruption starting at the arms/hands and covering the chest, face, and waists of the host, leaving the legs and back still the host's flesh.

BirdmanBaggins1/3/2018, 12:42:57 PM1 votes

I've been thinking on this ever since Aatrox came out in June of 2013. Made up plenty of silly concepts.

Riot really delivered with Rhaast, with his interactions with Kayn. Varus is neat too, but I had always suspected he was a Darkin, so it's good to be right.

What's interesting is that Rhaast and Varus are more alike than Aatrox seems to be with either of them. From the looks of it, Aatrox is a fully-corrupted, long-gone human who's become a Darkin, or a Darkin that never died in the first place, though this will likely change with his new update he's receiving soon(tm).

With that being said, I'd like to propose the two Darkin ideas as two fundamentally unique concepts. The first is centered around the scourge-whip, a mage who utilizes this deadly, torturous weapon to flay fools who dare come close. The second is a tank-like colossus, a brawny figure who does one thing, and one thing only: smash.

Either can be women, although I prefer the scourge-whip to be female, as the tank being a woman strays too close to Illaoi's territory.

Or an axe. Axes are cool too.

we need a support and a Mid-laner if riot is doing what i think they are doing and making a darkin for each role (the darkin are technically the main antagonists) the support is definitely going to be aggressive the mid laner is a big ??? due to all current darkin dealing physical damage

Lord Zeta 13136/15/2018, 1:50:29 AM1 votes

make the mid-laner a gauntlet it would be so cool

Wander the Nomad6/28/2018, 7:11:03 AM1 votes

So now that we know that Darkin are derived from the Ascended(Sunborn); it could be Naganeka(Snake), Valeeva(Porcupine?), or Cebotaru(Wolf). Or some yet unnamed character. But I'm not above Riot using characters that they mention in their lore because that's how we got Illaoi.

Nero Ulquiorra7/9/2019, 12:30:27 AM1 votes

If you think about it you have 3 lanes (5 players) 5 Darkin we have the -Top Tank AatroxAatrox -Bottom ADC VarusVarus -Jungler KaynKayn

all that's missing is the support and mid Darkin just throwing it out there as an after thought

GreenLore1/1/2018, 4:52:02 PM1 votes

Well overall I am a fan of the theory that the darkins are based on the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse(with Varus representing Pestilence and the 5th darkin being conquest).

So going by that the last 2 hosts for the darkins would be a set of scales for famine(or maybe some other twin weapon, that could be seen as a metaphor for scales) and a crown for conquest. Sure it says that the darkin are locked within weapons, but that might be simply based on misinformation(after all it was originally said that 2 darkin are hidden from history).

Now the more interesting question would be what kind of beings the darkins would actually be. And given that at least Aatrox and Rhaast are based on popular depictions of demons,I'd say they should continue with that, making one of them an imp(possible famine) and one of them the monstrous demon lord(think of someone like diablo, would likely be conquest).

In general I'd say it'd be really interesting if we take the idea that a darkins body can also be made of the flesh of multiple humans a step further and make the final darkin a monstrosity who fused his body out of hundreds of humans.

Last but not least I'd really appreciate it if the final 2 darkin would actually fill the roles in a team, meaning we'd get one for the midlane and one for the support role.

Alternatively I'd also say that a darkin based on an Oni would also be a cool idea, though we already have 2 darkin related to Ionia,so that might be a bit redundant.

Vladimir Vladimir & Morgana Morgana

cHAncEman12921/1/2018, 7:37:19 PM1 votes

The thing about introducing Darkin champions is that each champion has to have a different relationship with their Darkin weapon. Aatrox is 100% Darkin. Kayn on the other hand is in contention with Rhaast, they have a competitive relationship. Vaarus is inhabited by two lovers trying to overcome this force that wants to corrupt one of the partner's desire for vengeance, they have an almost parasitic/antagonist relationship. **Each Darkin should offer a new relationship with its host or welder. **

  • I believe that _Vladimir _ Vladimir should have some connection to the Darkin. In Varus's lore it is mentioned that the Darkin brought blood magic to the world of Runetarra (sp?). Itd be interesting to see the darkin be more of a sponsor, contained in an idol of some sort. Maybe their relationship could be that of "business partners". This would offer a Darkin that has a symbiotic relationship. This mage-like Darkin would offer Vladimir insight into hemomancy, in exchange for preparing a body for the Darkin to occupy. Who knows, maybe it'd turn out that when Vladimir help to reanimate Sion he had ulterior motives for doing so?
  • The last Darkin ought to be completely different from the evil influences of its peers. Perhaps this Darkin was itself purified or "corrupted" and will give more insight into the Darkin as a race.

A support and a midlaner XD

I feel like Sona would be a really different and interesting option.

Her instrument is already sentient and linked to her in an unhealthy way, just recolor and slap the name darkin on it. Technically a "weapon" is referring to any tool used to inflict harm, which she most definitely does in-game, and in lore the instrument kills people close to sona, so who's to say the rule of darkins being weapon specific isn't flexible in this case?

Also make item 3812 a champion.
