Lets be real, her design is just way too boring. A dress, a tiara and that's it? There's nothing interesting to her other than her weapon. Where's the uniqueness in this champion other than being a queen in a faction? Hell, she doesn't even look like a queen, but a princess who just got her powers and weapons, unless she's a young queen which that's fine. But there are so many ideas from cultures that she should've been

Yes, she's an assassin, but that shouldn't stop her from wearing one. She's a Queen, and she should flaunt it. It doesn't even have to be big like these ones. A smaller headpiece would go a long way. http://aztechumanities.weebly.com/uploads/4/6/5/3/46534395/938389.jpg?333 http://www.maya-aztec.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/maya_drawing01.jpg

#Wakanda Marvel did a fucking amazing job with this culture. Yes it's fictional but damn there are so many great ideas from this. https://timedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2018/02/black-panther.jpeg https://fsmedia.imgix.net/d0/bc/75/05/7fc5/4f4c/b919/1d3bd0409622/black-panther-wakanda-forever.jpeg https://cdn1.thr.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/scale_crop_768_433/2018/02/blackpanther596d2f0340b95-h_2018.jpg https://gothamtalks.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Tribes-of-Wakanda-Image.jpg https://news.quirktastic.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/wakanda-tribe1.jpg Look at the colours and neck piece. It shows off the culture, yet still functional as a warrior piece. Look at the tribal paint. Minimal, yet effective. Look at the hair. It show's culture but uniqueness. The men's warrior outfits looks so simple but so effective as well. Wakanda effectively combines both modern and African culture and it just works so well.

Give her some body paint. Give her some tribal like warrior face paint. Give her a mini head piece. Give her something that just speaks Queen of her lands, the jungle and her culture, and maybe I would give her an interest.

If I had to guess the reason they didn't go with some headdress or the like, its because they wanted her to be grounded firmly in the elements. It looks like her kit will possibly have to do with the environment, as the elements represented on her weapon are earth, plant, and water. To that end, they probably didn't want something feathery that has more to do with the sky or is reminiscent of the mesoamerican god Quetzalcoatl (the Aztec name), which would be more god-like and more associated with the sky and less grounded.

That said, I feel like they could have done something more interesting with her hair. There are so many mesoamerican hairstyles that they could have at least drawn inspiration from. If they didn't want to pin Qiyana to any one geographic culture, they also could have drawn inspiration from the many many surrounding cultures from both North and South America, many of which were heavily influenced by mesoamerican culture. Like the Inca to the south or the Pueblo tribes to the north.

I like the design of Qiyana, I don't want to see her changed.

Title should be "What I think Qiyana should've been"

When Sun Goddess Karma (A Carnival looking skin) is more faithful to the Mesoamerican look than Qiyana.

But the 13-year-olds aren't attracted to that...

I seem to recall some people (well 50+ upvotes at least) were pretty dissatisfied with Neeko's design and had more interest in one of her early concepts where she looked more primal like a feral cave-woman. That was, for whatever reason, deemed a "missed opportunity" something her final design should have been. Quite identical to OP's thread here. They had very specific ideas for how to improve Neeko because she was "too generic" while their recomendation was innocent, regardless of their opinions and the people who agreed with it, it wasnt adequate to the ultimate goal the devs had strived for and what they had successfully managed to achieve with their creation.

You catch my drift?

They try this and they will be buried under cultural appropriation complaints. People have been giving a huge stink whenever Overwatch champs got tribal-themed skins.

Better safe than sorry.

Why don't know why you're bringing Wakanda since they're African and Ixtal is based on South American civilizations

If you're going to use African cultural examples for a central American themed champion, how is that different from the current western culture on a central American champ that you're complaining about?
