Varus and Miss Fortune were said to be HIGHEST PRIORITY for a VO Updates and then Lee Sin get's one

NOTE: I don't hate that Lee Sin get's an update, it's great actually but I just hate that Riot don't keep their word and ignore the MF and Varus playerbase all together who ask if the teased news on a VO Update for both of them from a year ago are going to be seen on live servers at some point.

Riot you said it yourself that MF and Varus are a Highest Priority for a VO Update? So what is going on...?

Actual quote from a Rioter on Reddit from a year ago...

"..This new narrative is making his VO update much more of a priority (MF is in the same boat), but we've promised other updates for other champs (not just VO, but visual and gameplay), so we owe players some other things first. We do want to get to it eventually."

Pure VO updates are not higher priority for us then full VGUs and New Champs so they have to be squeezed in between that stuff. Not sure when and if these will happen, just that if we have time to squeeze and few VO updates in, these 2 are high priority for that.

Vic Mignogna, Lee and Malz's voice actor, has been under fire for a while over sexual harassment allegations, and has effectively been blacklisted from the industry. While it's not clear whether he actually is a serial creep, Riot is trying to backpedal on their own past BS and probably got new VO for Lee (if not Malz as well) going the moment the accusations happened.

As a side note, yes, MF got a VO update recorded with GGMF, but feedback was mixed or negative enough that it was not implemented. Considering that she fills both the shoes of a scheming seductress (pretending she's a helpless damsel on at least one occasion to get rid of rivals) and a vengeful and downright badass pirate queen, I can imagine that it's hard to strike a balance that as many people as possible will like.

MF got one didn't she but they ditched it right? when they got in the voice actor for her Ultimate skin, can't remember why they ditched it however. But I guess making sexual references and talking about 'Summoner' is okay.

You know the actor who did Yuumi is Nami's voice actor too? Yet here we are with Nami having 40 lines, all water/fish puns.

I mean as other mentioned in the thread its because his voice actor vic mignogna is yet another one of those actors with their head in a vice due to allegation of misconduct and what not and you know how companies love their PR, so basically everyone is dropping him because of those, despite the fact no major evidence has been presented yet. So you know Riot, in its glass house, has got to dump those people who so much as catch a wiff of allegations against them, since unlike the higher ups in Riot, he doesn't get a free pass to act how he wants regardless of whether they are true or not.

There are several possibilities as for why they chose Lee for this:

Lee might get an ultimate skin this year, so of course his VAs would be called in for a recording.They actually did this for Luxs Voice-update and tried this for MF(though the response to this attempt wasn't so good, so that one was scrapped).

2.They tried to update Varus and MF and it simply didn't work, so they chose someone else

3.Lees VAs were simply easier accessible than the VAs for other champs, I mean some of the VA for Varus or MF could be dead.

That being said, I hope that this could also mean that more VO-updates will be released.

my question is when is my girl cassio getting some love she been here forever , skins need updating , needs new vo and a better death animation .

Riot probably wanted to not be associated with Vic. Although it'll probably bite them in the ass with the fact that no concrete evidence has been pushed against him in his lawsuit against his accusers.

MF's one is a bit weird, the recorded voicelines had to be really bad for it to be ditched that way, but Varus I can understand, they would probably have to use up to 3 Voice actors for Varus, Kai and Valmar
