Ashe's type of archery is wrong.

Not saying her gameplay needs a change, although she is easily one of the most boring adcs, but her type of archery isn't correct for combat. The only reason I ever play Ashe is because I think to myself, "I kinda just wanna play a braindead simple champion this game," and then I regret it when someone picks literally any adc because their skill cap is higher than Ashe's which means they can easily out play me. Anyways that's enough about my gameplay rant let's get into the actual reason we're here. Nothing about Ashe's combat style really makes sense. Her type of archery is much more fit for standing still, which she doesn't really do in game and she's shown moving in her splash art. Is this going to be approached in her comic or? Is she supposed to be a type of stand still archer sniper? That's definitley not really shown in game so if that's the case I'm confused. Only her R might say sniper, but her q and w say rapid fire archer. She's havin a personality chrisis and it's making me cringe. Now every time I see an Ashe I'll only be able to think about how what she's doing doesn't make sense. "Hollywood archery"

Alright. First point. Lars is a phenomenal archer. Better than I can ever hope to be. But his “secret uncovered method of loosing arrows” is best described as trick shots.

He mostly doesn’t pull his arrow back far enough to get maximum force. And uses the lack of exertion to simply knock another arrow faster. Basically it means his firing will work fine against opponents within 20 feet or so, as long as they’re not wearing any armor or have any shields at all. This is the opposite of what you’re supposed to do with a longbow as Ashe uses. Longbows has the kill distance closer to 30 meters and the only chance you had of getting through armor was through maximum force behind each shot. And even then it isn’t a guarantee. And interestingly we have the requirements for longbowman in the English army. You needed to be able to loose 4-6 arrows per minute. That’s why the British brought hundreds of archers with them when facing against French knights. And despite some remarkable successes (like Agincourt) still lost the war and lost more battles than they won.

Secondly I can understand the desire to see a bit more-if not realism- realistic visual influences. I do as well. But I don’t think LoL is really that kind of game.

But hey, if they find a way to make an awesome realistic influenced version of an archer I’d be all for it. I personally want a longsword first. But that’s mostly because watching Garen, Tryndamere, and Aatrox swing their weapons around like that is almost painful.

It's ultimately a nod to the fact that a League champion who pauses to take a proper shooting stance and uses the proper technique would be really frustrating, and the fact that League characters are more akin to comic book heroes than actual real-world soldiers. It's a suspension of disbelief that's kind of asked for as part of League's story-telling style, much like how we're all prepared to accept that Hawkeye can land a perfect, long-distance shot while actively jumping between buildings.

Ignoring the 90% trash talk of what you think of Ashe one-tricks, I agree. Shouldn't her auto attacks be what her Q is doing and her Q what her auto attacks are doing?

For example, Hanzo?
