The Darkin learned how to change their form with primal magic, which probably made them look more demonic.
This magic probably has ties with Vlad’s blood magic (sanguine puddle). It also helps them reap the life force from people in battle and change their hosts form.
I feel the same... I would be okay if the Darkins were Ascended corrupted by the Void or creatures imprisoned by Targonian aspects, but mixing up the 3 things is a mess.
What is next? an undead Yordle Ascended corrupted by the Void who was imprisoned by a Targonian and then got the powers of a demon from a Vastaya who used true ice?
Shurima and the void have been tied together for a while, now, so that's not surprising.
When the Darkin became an imminent and terrible threat for all of runeterra, other factions joined. Aspects are among the most powerful beings in Runeterra, if you don't count the Ascended and non-affiliated spirits.
To be fair all of these things being connected isn't that far off.
I mean we've known already that shurima had a big void problem,with every void-related champ so far originating in Shurima(as they all have shuriman names or were people who lived there) and we also know that the targonians had beef with the void.
Add to that,the fact that both the targonians and the shurimans have connections to the sun and its not unlikely that the 2 interacted in the past already before.
Besides not all darkin were necessarily corrupted by the void,they might fear that they were corrupted,but its easily possible that in some cases they just became evil/mad on their own.
Though in general I would have preferred it too if the darkin remained their own thing seperate from the void or the ascended.
