Keeping up with the constant lore retcons is giving me whiplash.

Like seriously, I just found out Lux's lore has been retconned, when her previous lore was what, not even a year old? Like I get the need to keep the lore fresh and strong, but retconning lore that you've already updated isn't an improvement. It degrades the lore, because it can change at any given time, and people can't understand or have meaningful discussions about the lore if our understanding of it is no longer relevant. The lore is starting to shift and rewrite itself faster than memes on the internet. Get your story and stick with it guys. PLAN your stories out, so you can prevent this incessant retconning. It's tiring to have to reread everything over and over again because some minor change cascaded across like 5 different people's lores.

Wait.....what Lux retcon? I thought they simply cleared up her (& Garen's) bio to fit with their new word count limit thing. There was a retcon?

Don't you mean 2 years? The update happened around the Galio update which was 2017.

The whole universe has been retconned, you might just want to ignore the lore, it is meaningless.

Yeah, I asked Scathlocke when it happened, and apparently it happened due to a combination of wordcount limits, rejiggering the timeline to make it so Lux hasn't joined the Secret Magents yet (due to how they want to write the magic civil war storyline), and wanting to put everything that could be told in a proper story... well, in a proper story, not a bio.

I'm with you in that I don't quite agree with it, and it makes it hard to counter the people who believe the lore is meaningless due to all the retcons, but I can see where they're coming from, and Scath was pretty clear that things will still happen the way we've seen, just that they haven't happened yet.

Lux and Garen bios were edited mostly due to word limit (Bios have to be around 600-700 words) and probably to compensate for their comic and Novella in the future. I highly doubt that Lux being a secret magic agent isn't canon anymore, they'd probably explore it in her future lore.

Nothing was really "retconned" the bios were just shortened to a more strict word limit AND some storytelling was removed to make them more expository which is the point of the bio.

Lux still met Galio but that's a separate STORY from the BIO which should be about her solely but in it's current incarnation would have to jump from being about Garen and Galio to then being about the Illuminators and finally Sylas. It's Luxs' bio not Demacias' bio

?? What retcon? The secret mage agent part just hasn't happened yet and was removed for now to have a consistent time line. Retcons? The only things that get retconed are the champs that don't make sense anymore or don't have a place in Runeterra.
