So what is a Quinlon?

Back with the Irelia VGU we got a little bit more material about Ionia, which included some beautiful Art and “/Dev Blog Discover Ionia”, in which WAAARGHbobo and Boogergames talk about Ionia.

Also, we got this breathtaking picture (seriously, it one of my favorite Universe Art).

In the Discover Ionia | /dev diary WAAARGHbobo even talks more about that specific piece of Art.

W: „What I love about Joon’s painting of a Fauhwoon tribesman sort’ve looking over these magical Quinlon things is it actually captures the feeling that a lot of Vastaya have. They’re very unhappy and uncertain with the way that humans are using magic.” B: “Of course, the humans have good reasons for this. The world is changing and the Noxus empire invaded.” […] B: “When the Noxian did this, a few people in Ionia decided they were no longer happy just being defensive. They start using magic offensively and fighting back.”

Well, I’m pretty active on the Story, Art & Sounds Boards and I remember that WAAAGHbobo already talked about Quinlon a while ago.

So I dug out his old statement.

In Vlonqo (the town where the two first meet), Xayah is on a mission to recover a stolen artifact. Any ideas on what it is, such as a name or a description?

Vlonqo is a town with a monastery and a Quinlon. An' no. I'm not going to tell you what a Quinlon is. 'Cause I'm a stinker. (also cause I don't remember if I've spelled it right) - WAAAGHbobo

Okay, that doesn’t give us much information, but there is more.

Regarding the artifact in Vlonqo, is it in the monastery or the Quinlon? And can you describe it a bit? I may need a brief description for what I'm writing.

You've seen a roughly built shadow magic Quinlon destroyed. Most do not gather shadow magic. - WAAAGHbobo

A destroyed shadow magic Quinlon? Well, that does sound familiar. I mean, in the Animation Video “Wild Magic” we see that Xayah is destroying red crystals which look incredible similar to these ones in the picture above.

Also, in Wild Magic it is pretty clear that Zed is doing. He drains the local spirit magic from the environment and turns it into a different, more useable form. And these crystals are called Quinlon.

TL;DR: Quinlon is the name for the crystals which turn (spirit) magic in a more useable form for humans, which we can see in the art piece “The First Lands” and the Animation Short “Wild Magic”.

Wrong... it’s obviously a smaller Quinn . Aka a quinlette

That picture is so cool but they don't bother telling us what a Quinlon is so we miss out.

It's a cool thing that you figured out but we shouldn't have to rely on this for finding out what significant terms mean.

Hmm, good theory. Thanks, by the way - the original questions you linked were mine. I was looking for an answer for that. (Not saying why I needed it yet, that's for a project I'm working on.)

And I guess by deduction the artifact was in the monastery then...

Also, I feel like WAAARGHbobo wasn't really answering my questions about the town or the artifact, but I can always look back at the bios for information.

Based on what happened when Xayah and Rakan destroyed the one Zed was using, I think Quinlons are magic siphoning crystals.
