So what is a Quinlon?
Back with the Irelia VGU we got a little bit more material about Ionia, which included some beautiful Art and “/Dev Blog Discover Ionia”, in which WAAARGHbobo and Boogergames talk about Ionia.
Also, we got this breathtaking picture (seriously, it one of my favorite Universe Art).
In the Discover Ionia | /dev diary WAAARGHbobo even talks more about that specific piece of Art.
W: „What I love about Joon’s painting of a Fauhwoon tribesman sort’ve looking over these magical Quinlon things is it actually captures the feeling that a lot of Vastaya have. They’re very unhappy and uncertain with the way that humans are using magic.” B: “Of course, the humans have good reasons for this. The world is changing and the Noxus empire invaded.” […] B: “When the Noxian did this, a few people in Ionia decided they were no longer happy just being defensive. They start using magic offensively and fighting back.”
Well, I’m pretty active on the Story, Art & Sounds Boards and I remember that WAAAGHbobo already talked about Quinlon a while ago.
So I dug out his old statement.
Okay, that doesn’t give us much information, but there is more.
You've seen a roughly built shadow magic Quinlon destroyed. Most do not gather shadow magic. - WAAAGHbobo
A destroyed shadow magic Quinlon? Well, that does sound familiar. I mean, in the Animation Video “Wild Magic” we see that Xayah is destroying red crystals which look incredible similar to these ones in the picture above.
Also, in Wild Magic it is pretty clear that Zed is doing. He drains the local spirit magic from the environment and turns it into a different, more useable form. And these crystals are called Quinlon.
TL;DR: Quinlon is the name for the crystals which turn (spirit) magic in a more useable form for humans, which we can see in the art piece “The First Lands” and the Animation Short “Wild Magic”.
. Aka a quinlette
