Runeterra keeps getting smaller.

I feel like all the champ lore from new champ to rework seems to exist to tie them to other characters and the few established regions/factions in the lore. It seems like they are content making Runeterra smaller for the sake of clarity. This is clear in that even a oddball champ like Ivern is connected to the Freljord.

Even with the release of Xayah and Rakan, it seemed to be a new race named the Vastaya, however it was not a case of addition but rather a subtraction. Strange beings such as Ahri and Rengar were now given the context of belonging to the same race instead of being some unique or rare race.

I don't think this is entirely bad, connections are important. but can we have some champions/updates that indroduce NEW races and even regions? Champions with martial professions never heard of, stories that don't tie to anybody currently? There are such more subtle connections we can make between characters. Perhaps the next champion is spoken of in voice lines, they could be a myth. The point is: a large world filled with mystery. High fantasy!

Anyway, just my two cents. Thanks for reading! [vlad-salute]

I don't think the world is getting too small,I just feel like Riot focuses a bit more nowadays on fleshing out the stuff that we already have in the game. Introducing new factions or races would feel shallow if they don't expand on them eventually.

And while the vastaya are now tied together under one "race",they are still different subraces living in vastly different regions(pretty much every group of vastaya are their own subfaction). They only share the same origin, which makes sense, because otherwise we'd run into a lot of tribes who just happen to be human-animal hybrids by coinidence.I think the trope "meta origin" describes it fairly well as for why this could come off as jarring eventually. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MetaOrigin And even then we still have the minotaurs and the ursine as seperate beings.

In general I'd say that the vastaya and the demigods tied some things together, while also expanding the world at the same time.
