Inconsistencies with Rework Poppy's Handedness.

Going through the Splash Arts and the newly released comic, I noticed something that I find fairly interesting. While it isn't 100% consistent, art depictions of Poppy overwhelmingly favor her as being left-handed.

Classic, Noxus, Rag Doll, and Battle Regalia picture Poppy as left-handed. Blacksmith, Scarlet Hammer, and Lolipoppy picture her as right-handed.

4 out of 7 in favor of left is a majority, but still, probably not conclusive enough. That's where the comic comes in.

By my count, Poppy is displayed as clearly favoring her left hand 19 times, as opposed to favoring her right hand only 5 times. This one in particular shows a very clear trend towards being a left-handed fighter, with the other examples being few enough to perhaps be an oversight, or, if intentional, show that she is ambidextrous to some degree, but largely favors her left hand regardless.

However, the game model tells a different story, as she holds and employs her hammer exclusively with her right hand. One could argue that her impeccable aim with her left-handed shield throw is another show for ambidexterity, but even then, her model overwhelmingly favors her right hand, being that it is where she holds her hammer.

In Summary: Poppy is [primarily] Left-Handed in art, but Right-Handed in game.

Personally, I like the idea of Poppy being the newest addition to the under-represented lefty club in League (which I believe currently only consists of Taric, Dr. Mundo, and Ezreal).

I think Poppy's ambidextrous, I guess it doesn't really matter which hand she uses as long as she gets to smash stuff.

When will people realize splashes get mirrored sometimes. It has nothing to do with Poppy, artists just don't care for that detail because it's irrelevant.

Yeah, I kind of feel like the teams are a bit disconnected as far as what to do with Poppy. Her in-game model in general doesn't capture the modest cuteness of her splash art. Let alone get the proportions of her face consistent.

How dare you forget Blitzcrank and his Q ability icon! It shows it as a left hand on the icon, but it actually fires his right!

Panth in game holds the spear in his left hand as well! I think it would be cool if Poppy was also left-handed. I know that when drawing, as an artist, sometimes I don't pay much attention in which hand my character holds a weapon, I pay much more attention from which angle the character looks cool. For example, I have to watch out not to draw the weapon obscuring the character etc. Maybe that's the case in splashes and the comic as well?

Long story short she is ambidextrous. She probably favors the left hand but it was most likely taugh to fight by a right handed master (assuming lefty to rigthy ratio are the same as our earth). Is a common occurrence that left handed people become ambidextrous due to society being built around right handed people, is just easier.... for example when was the last time you saw a left handed scissor? or a left handed can opener? You probably don't realize it (specially if you are right handed) but give the same scissors you use to a left handed and they will struggle to use it and/or will feel the tool uncomfortable.

As for the ina game model, is probably the same as Legend of Zelda for the Wii version wher Link was made right handed so players wouldn't feel uncomfortable playing with their left hand. Is just matter of commodity for us players.

Honestly, this is a level of detail that in these cases should simply not be cared for.

Stuff can be mirrored, communication with artists may be sketchy, or maybe during production they have to swap hands for the animation and the splash artist can' t change that.

So let' s just call her abidextrous and let' s call it a day.
