Lol client vs Runeterra.

Ever noticed how the Lol client is made to be purely Hextech? Or how even mastery tokens are Hextech? Or the chests? Or even the Hextech exclusive skins, coming from Hextech?

I know none of this is supposed to align with lore, but do you possibly think the lol client is a massive machine to be built in the future for Piltover? It seems too loose just to be a design choice at the least.

The 'Hextech' nature of the client is a PR decision exclusively for familiarity purposes. Simply to emulate the visual aesthetics of the entire League IP (that includes its lore) to keep it cohesive and recognizable for its audience.

This is the exact same reason why the visuals for Ranked Medals contain very distinguishable elements from League's world building. So it's probable this also applies to why certain items and the Rune pages look aesthetically recognizable, even though they're not strictly connected to the canon.

Funny you should mention that. Just one week ago a GDC talk about updating the client got released on YouTube. As you suspected, the client is designed to feel like a hextech machine. However, there are no connections to the lore, other than visual inspiration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB5GO9C5z4U
