Vulture Ascended says "it is worse than death, it is like not even existing."
What role did Kindred play in this situation? Did they take the Ascended ? Or couldn't because he was erased?
What is the difference between being erased and being dead if there is no afterlife? Does it mean there is afterlife in LoL universe?
The real question is, if void creatures leave behind a soul for Kindred to take, does it taste purple?
I doubt that it is the case for void creatures. Kindred is the personification of death.... in Runeterra. But void creatures come from a different place, another universe. Maybe they have a soul, but I doubt that Kindred does have any business with that.
And about what JustMonika13 said about reincarnation: maybe void creatures are able to devour the very essence of your soul, too. Making you unable to reincarnate, therefore removing you forever from that circle. That would truly be an end worse than death, if you are losing your eternal soul.
But in the end, we can all just make assumptions, since we are clearly lacking information here.
It has been heavily suggested that in the League universe there’s a cycle of reincarnation, both by Illaoi and Nagakaborous, as well as by Zoe and the recent Mt. Targon work. If that’s the case, I assume that there’s no “afterlife” in the sense that your consciousness, your “self” is done when you die, and your soul/spirit/whatever gets ready for reincarnation through some unknown means.
Kindred aren’t the enforcers of the afterlife, they’re mere personifications of death. Accept it, and lamb makes it as painless as possible. Fight it, and Wolf will make your final moments a Hell... in exchange for a chance to “cheat” death (even if death is unavoidable at the end). Riot stated back when they were release that they’re not “all-powerful” in the traditional sense. Yes they’re the universal truth of life eventually ending, but escaping from the grasp of death is possible.
As for the Ascended, it was heavily implied by Illaoi that they, are “stagnated.” If there are any repercussions to your soul for Ascending, I don’t think it has been made clear yet, but Illaoi certainly sees it as foolishness.
The Void leaves nothing behind. The thing is in a world there is a confirmed reeincarnation cycle, some things are worse than death. Death in the end is unavoidable and natural, but also a new beginning. In Malzahar's lore the Void is described as "oblivion" which means it destroys the very soul. Which, atleast in my understanding, is by far worse than death.
