Yeah but was Annie really iconic from the narrative perspective? Because four, cut down to two paragraphs of lore never amounted to anything compelling if you ask me. Perhaps there was potential in there but at the end of the day it's still underdeveloped content.
If Annie's going to be iconic like she deserves to be, it will come after this update, regardless if a few try to complain that a change was too drastic or what ever.

I don't really see how they can mess it up, they're not giving her a vu or anything. Everything iconic about Annie will stay the way it is, the only thing that's changing is her story, which has never been well developed.

Unlike, say, Varus or Galio, Annie doesn't really have anything to ruin. So long as she remains The Dark Child, I think Rito's okay.

I get that I'm just a bit late to the thread here. But honestly, if you care about lore, LoL basically died 4 years ago. Every single champion has had their original lore butchered. Some of them cough Trynn cough have seen their lore ripped up and rewritten from scratch 3 or even 4 times already! I love LoL as a MOBA game, but I gave up even rolling my eyes at RIOTs "lore" years ago. It isn't "lore" or "cannon" if you rewrite it every few months. It's glorified fan fiction. Frankly that's all LoL lore has been for many years now. They don't even bother trying to recon. They just delete the "old" (old = more than 3 months ago) lore and rewrite new like it never existed.
It's lazy, it's sad, and the fan deserve way better, but the butchering is not going to change. So I just stopped reading any of it and just pretend it doesn't exist. After all, in another 3-12 months, it won't.
