@Foundations Team Connecting League's Lore
I'll say this starting off: this is NOT a QQ thread. The current lore is fantastic and a joy to read, but there is a major issue with it: there are no connections between regions. Character interactions and conflicts have no large implications on the rest of the lore. The Noxian-Demacian-Ionian (my favorite part of the Old lore) conflict means nothing if no plot developments arise from it. Thus, I have a proposition: rework the Institute of War.
I realize Riot got rid of it after much deliberation, but the benefits of having it in the canon outweigh the detriments. The purpose of the IoW was to act as a fulcrum of LoL's story around which all the factions revolved. More than that, it allowed for progression of the story as conflicts were resolved within the IoW and new ones arose. Aside from this, and the obvious dependency champions like Fiddlesticks have on it do exist, is the amazing job it does of explaining the game itself. Back when I first started playing, I loved the fantasy of being a powerful summoner, aiding my favorite champion on the Rift, an ancient, IoW Field of Justice chock full of IoW constructs. It didn't matter that Garen was able to behead his sister and disembowel his best friend–he had surrendered his services to the Institute, and had to provide them to whichever summoner could merit them with the points of influence he earned during his time making real war a thing of the past. In the end, I believe the IoW can be reworked to fix the problems it used to have while maintaining the strengths that made it such a great element of the lore.
