Will there be new factions with the release of the new map ? Yes or no will be fine for me ! =)
So far, we got these factions/regions that are well related:
Demacia
Piltover
Zaun
Noxus
Freljord
Mount Targon
The Void
Bandle City
Bilgewater
Vastayans
Darkins
Ionia
Shadow Isles
Shurima
And these factions/regions, that we don't know a lot about them:
Icathia
Kumungu Jungle
The Glade
I agree that Icathia can stand on its own because its has its own stuff even though it has a relation to the void and there are no more champs that resides there because its now a ruin. BUT! I think in the future, possible factions without champs/ just a affiliated ones are possible because Runeterra is a growing and has realistic/lively approach world. It doesn't need to be faction where a champ should reside there all the time in order for it to be a faction. Not only that, but Jax and Zilean's faction should be icathia as well because they're heavily influenced there. Or maybe, just make them just like tham kench, he's factionless because he always travel to here and there but he has a great influence in Bildgewater so he is affiliated there.
As for the kumungu jungles (Which is one of the factions that I love and won't stop to spam riot until they make it as a faction) is going to be renamed or be a part of a much larger jungle says one rioter. (Eg. kumungu:Unnamed jungle;Immortal Bastion:Noxus)
Lastly, as for the glade, I think it will be 50/50 because I remember in Reav3's interview in beyond the rift, they plan Zoe as a character from where Lulu which is the glade until they scrap it because they seems similar and move zoe into targon. So there is a chance for the glade to return.
What's The Glade again and who is related to it?
Bio hinted that Kumungu's likely to get a rename on the map. The Glade is possibly no longer canon. And we just got Icathia stuff - it ties into the Void.
We will have to see if anything new appears!
There was a recently released icon teasing the Runeterra map:
You can get an idea of where the factions reside, northeastern Valoran we have Noxus, to the west, Demacia, up north I imagine is the Freljord, the stretch of land connecting north and south Valoran, we have Piltover/Zaun, down south we have Shurima and its outlying cities (Icathia, etc.), to the west of that I imagine is Mt. Targon and to the far east of southern Valoran the lush green spot, I imagine that's the Kumungu Jungle.
Outside the continent of Valoran, we have Ionia up in the northeast and south of that, we have the island of Bilgewater. If you look very, very closely at the southeastern side of the map, you can see the smallest bit of the little figure that represents where the Shadow Isles reside.
I don't think that Bandle City and the Glade will be seen on the map because it has been hinted that those places exist only in the 'spirit realm'. I believe that the only reason why we have yordles in Runeterra is because of how they can traverse the spirit realm and the physical realm of Runeterra.
Are the kumungu jungles even mentioned in the lore...im scared please dont retcon it
