Could the darkin be ascended+void?

The darkin were either created or summoned by the shurimans to fight the void. The shuriman's ascended were not wholely effective against the void based on the tales of their destruction in the story about the fall of icathia. Based on aatrox's interaction with void creatures I can't help but wonder if perhaps the darkin are some amalgamation of shuriman ascension and the void. This would help to explain their appetite for death as well as their hate for all targonian aspects (since the aspects seem to be at war agains the void (and in turn the watcher who control it)).

As a side note, we know that the void was originally brought to runeterra using rune magic. Ascension due to it's power to nearly ascend a being into godhood could also reasonably be explained by using rune magic and so combining them may not be an unreasonable feat.

I think they mentioned a "darkin homeworld" in the bio of Varus,so I'd say it is more likely that they were simply summoned by the shurimans.

It would not explain why they all look so similar, with pseudo human characteristics... After all, Ascended are usually creatures with animal characteristics and when the void corrupts a creature, the "shape" of the creature still similar to what it was before being corrupted.

Maybe only Aatrox is a Darkin that managed to be Ascended and due that, he has wings.

It seems as though they share the same blood with Morgana and Kayle, whatever they are. The Targonians used their magic to seal the Darkin, and from the sounds of it that involved time in the void, not just on Runeterra as a weapon.

Doing so would remove even more threat from the Void, hardly the all consuming threat that destroyed Icathia if the Darkin are related to it.

On the side note, the Sun Disc is probably a world rune that using the suns power to empower Runeterrans. Probably one of the many things Darkin's wanted when invading Runeterra.

Darkin are angels Kayle that were touched by the void.

Kayle managed to fracture herself in 2 when she was touched, which manifested as Morgana. Which is why Aatrox taunts Kayle by saying she will never reach her true form, and Morgana by saying she is stuck bound to the flesh of a human.... I mean... until they fuse back together.
