@Riot, my initial thoughts on the High Noon Login Theme.

Think about what a theme is meant to do.

  1. Set era & location (Wild West/Victorian era, American Frontier)
  2. Represent characters (Lucian: Badass, protagonist, gunslinger cursed by a demon).
  3. Represent the environment (instrumentation & instrumentation technique should be appropriate)
  4. Set pace/mood/atmosphere.

Riot has fundamentally failed in all areas. It doesn't set the era or location (maybe 15 seconds of the entire theme sounds remotely reminiscent of the wild west). It represents Thresh better than it represents the character in the login screen. There are far too many instruments playing for how few characters there are. The timbre is far too warm and thick for a run-down, empty saloon. It doesn't set pace, mood or atmosphere for the most part.

I'm 5/6ths of my way through a Bachelor of Music. I've completed a subject specifically dealing with scoring music for films and video games. I know enough about this subject to know that Riot utterly fucked up the High Noon theme.

It's good music, it just fails at doing its job.

I agree, I'm not really digging this particular theme. Doesn't really convey "wild west" for me, much less "wild west with demons".

The thing I don’t understand about this is, why are the some sort of demons in the Wilde west. Just why..
