Silly lil' thread, but can Kayle end up similar to Imperius?

As in just a divine manifestation of righteousness, ready to unleash holy fire to purge those who oppose her vision of Utopia?

https://thumbs.gfycat.com/SmugSilkyClam-size_restricted.gif I've always liked her aesthetics as a face-less divine being whose gender wasn't at all relevant to her character, but I fear that she'll just shed the masked helmet and otherwise androgynous appearance for one that pronounces her feminine traits more.

Which, in my opinion, would be a major downgrade from that sick golden-armoured, holy-fire look that just radiates divine Justice.

While on the topic of Kayle, her relationship with Morgana should also end up similar to the clash of Ideals Imperius and Tyrael had, with their opinions of what is right differing more than just slightly. Just think a VS. event, but deeply ingrained in the two champion's lore and narrative.

Anywho, just something that came to mind after looking for some reference points for Kayle's VGU. Nothing to be taken too serious, but feel free to do so.

If it's just aesthetically, yes. If it's character-wise, hell no.

Imperius had potential, but was written as a pretentious and pompous ass. Itherael, the literal embodiment of "grey and vague", has a better personality than him. His teleportation and laser beam ability are rather quaint, though.

Kayle and Morgana should be portrayed with much more subtlety. The Leona & Diana and VS event conflicts tend to simplify the sides and support chaos too much.

On a somewhat related note: play Grim Dawn. It's incredibly good, and has interesting lore to boot.

First of all, Imperius is the aspect of valour, the angel of justice/righteousness is Tyrael (cue the "You cannot judge me, I am Justice itself! We were meant for more than this... to protect, THE INNOCENT!" . ). Being the manifestation of valour is the major reason why Imperius is so trigger-happy when it comes to the idea of purging the evil and taking them head on; as it's literally his very being to do battle and vanquish those who he perceives as evil and by being a symbol of courage and bravery to lead people in the midst of war.

The inner struggle within Imperius with concepts like duty and righteousness, the debates with them in regards to his battle-seeking nature, could have been its own epics. But then the writers of Diablo3 clearly didn't have a clue and simply wrote him as a cheap overzealous angel who thinks like some radical extremist and a supremacist of sort, who also can not stand any forms of criticism, and being actually quite weak for some reason despite being supposedly the most powerful angel when it comes to combat strength. Imperius is written as both being hilariously weak in both the mind and the body, with 0 room for any characterisation nor any forms of development, because reasons.

I hate the utter wasted of narrative potential of Imperius in D3 so much. I can't contain myself!

I hope the writers for Kayle do not make anywhere of that same mistake. Explore the idea and conflicts fully, not some knockoff efforts as seen by the writer(s) of Imperius.

I imagine they could use ethereal wings made by golden light (similar to Aurelion Sol tail) to justify her size in game as currently she is really small without her wings. I don't expect bird wings.

It is also unlikely they will remove her helmet. IIRC August confirmed it.

So she really might be in path of being female Imperius, I would expect even her personality similar to Imperius. Both are actually benevolent, but their actions are for greater good rather than goodness of all. That sometimes may give players the idea she is actually the evil one, but not really. It is more of good and evil not being absolute and change by view. Imperius is not human, he doesn't think in the way of an human. Her goals and rules are not gonna be in mortal way either. So even though he is benevolent, he is sometimes a douchebag in eyes of a human.

I expect the same for Kayle. Even if she is originally an human, the aspect within her (I assume) is not. So aspect within her could have different perspective of good. Benevolent, but time to time also a douchebag.

I think they'll make her one of the great ascended that turned into Darkin, just not Darkin. So that may be close.

I kinda want her to end up looking like Uriel from Darksiders, tbh.

I really want her base look to be the more Holy Angelic Knighty possible with nearly no space for feminity.

She will still be my favorite girl among the bunch and they can give her a lot of more girly/woman/fan service skins.

I want new players to go back to mistaking her for a male character at first after her VGU, like it was with her old splash art. I know I did, and a lot of other people did when they first started the game. Although, her new splash art really doesn't leave much question as to what biological traits she has and it really annoys me. Let's go back to having her base skin being androgynous please!

This is your fault, Tyrael.

I just hope Kayle keeps her face masking Helmet, at least in her base.

I'm sorry, but I enjoyed how Kayle's original reasoning for the mask was because she viewed justice as an ugly but necessary thing and saw fit to present herself as a faceless being of justice. A mask that shows no pity, sorrow, contempt, or any other feelings, allowing justice to be delivered as fairly as possible to the accused (more or less).

But ever since Unmasked Kayle we keep getting skins with her helmet off. I get it, she's pretty, but I'm a mask guy.

Is the character in the gif from a game? Who is he or she?

It's not silly, it's an accurate representation.
