I don't like how Lux keeps having to avoid using her powers in the comics

It feels kinda cheap that she decided to go against Sylas after using a Petricite Potion for plot reasons (i.e. so she can maintain plausible deniability on being a mage). I kinda want Garen to just flat out say to her face that he knows Lux is a mage in the final volume of the comic, since her powers are more-or-less the worst kept secret in Demacia. Or for Sylas to just blow the whistle on her since she "picked her side".

But I suspect Riot won't do that because "we have to keep things our way!", which will more-or-less be shooting themselves in the foot by not letting Lux live without hiding.

I thought she used it so that Sylas couldn’t take her magic again?

It's for plot reasons. If she used her magic Sylas and the rebellion would be dead. Same how in Marvel/DC powerful characters don't use their powers because if they did half of the things would have never happened. They have to streach out the story because a novel is also coming.
