With the Morde rework, what is even the Ruined King's role in the lore?

Morde is the undead overlord of the Shadow Isles, Sauron reborn in Runeterra, the ruler of the Black Mist. He is obviously the one who leads the undead legions during Harrowings to feast on the flesh of living and break their souls to further increase the numbers of his unholy crusade.

So, my only question is, what is the RK's current role in Runeterra, becasue he is obviously not the dark overlord of the Isles and not even a commander like Hecarim? Is he a mere spectre roaming the dread wastes mourning over the loss of his wife? Is he even still in the canon or get retconned with the new lore?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the new Morde, I'm just a bit anxious the RK got deleted, which would be a shame because he has a unique and tragic backstory.

The Ruin King's primary role is creating the Shadow Isles and the Black Mist. Beyond that, I don't think he really matters.

currently, it looks like his only role was to create the shadow isles.

Have I missed some new Lore entry?

Iirc there might be a sort-of internal conflict within the SI with Morde and the Ruined King trying to command the undead armies.

As far as we know, the Ruined King is the primary cause of the Blessed Isles' fall to the Shadow Isles (the "Ruination" I think its called). He's essentially a backstory character. We don't know if he still exists in any capacity.

Mordekaiser, a guy known for his endless ambition and dominating nature, took advantage of the Shadow Isles as an undead being himself. He's not FROM the Blessed nor the Shadow Isles, so he just sort of asserted himself (which is very in-character). Its possible he usurped someone else's control of the Mist, or maybe he controls his own portion (the way Yorick does). We don't know yet.

I eagerly await some exciting political intrigue and dictatorial combat. Morde is someone I've always found really cool and could be a great villain.
