Could Ornn Actually be From Targon?
Before you say anything, I'd like to say that I mean ANCIENT Targon, like before Aurelion was even enslaved by them ancient.
So there are a few things I'd like to start with, namely a statement by Sharjo:
Q: "Is he supposed to be a god?"
A: "The Freljordians certainly think he and his siblings are."
This statement tells us 2 very key things; that Ornn is thought of as a god, and that he has siblings. So who are some other characters that are considered gods or godlike in Runeterra? Well I'm sure that most would probably think of Aurelion Sol as a god, but I don't think any Runeterrans even know of him outside Targon. The Ascended of Shurima also come to mind, but although they are certainly godlike, they aren't figures of worship, in fact most of them are more public servants. So who else could be considered a god? Well, I think that the answer is the Aspects of Targon. Think about it, the only confirmed figures of worship are Nagakabouros, who doesn't make sense to be related to Ornn in any way, or the Aspects. Namely the Aspect of the Sun, worshipped by the Solari tribe for centuries, and the Aspect of the Moon, who was worshipped by the Lunari before they were wiped out.
That is one tie between Ornn and Targon, they are both godly figures.
We can go deeper though. Another very interesting little tidbit from Sharjo was this: >"He is DEFINETLY not a human. He's also very big. Very big. He's also very, very powerful. Among the most powerful champions in the lore I'd say. There's of course the big "You must be this cosmic to sit with Aurelion Sol" bar to reach and Ornn's not quite there, I don't think there are many champions who could ever hope to contest Ornn one on one. There's at least one who could considering they have in the past, but those are tales best left to the story-tellers."
This tells us a lot about Ornn, namely that he is very powerful, but not quite cosmic, and that he has fought with another champion before. This is where the conspiracy starts boys and girls, so ready your tinfoil hats. What if Ornn is a former Aspect of Targon who abanboned the mountain and created the entire continent of Valoran?
Sound a little farfetched? Maybe it is, but hear me out here. Apparently Ornn has siblings, but according to this statement by Reav3: "I have yet to see anyone of the boards accurately guess who Ornns siblings are ;)", nobody has yet guessed who they are. So that rules out the three Iceborn sisters of the ancient Freljord, it rules out Braum and Gragas, and it even rules out Malphite. That leaves the Aspects and possibly Anivia, but I doubt it's her, that seems too obvious.
Next is the info from the teaser itself. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v8IOJfK6Yvg/WYXsgpeq4RI/AAAAAAAAq0E/Kp90c1giLjcNwR0E6pRl1YVep0K6lj61QCLcBGAs/s1600/image%2B%252812%2529.jpg
There is so much hidden info here, but we should start with the obvious, the poem that is sung in the teaser. First, Ornn is deeply connected with the Howling Abyss, as the poem mentions it several times, even noting that Ornn resides past it. Now we don't really know which side they refer to, but I think this means that the other side of the Howling Abyss is unsettled mountains, as the poem notes that he is past the bridge, which would mean that the entire Freljord is on the opposite side of him. So he lives in a mountain range on the far side of the Howling Abyss, I imagine being the farthest Northern reaches of the Freljord. Not only does he live there, it even implies that he created the mountains and the Howling Abyss itself. It also mentions his "kingdom of stone" which is surrounded by a "river of fire", so he basically lives in a volcano, which is badass as hell. Finally, the poem mentions him forging divine works form "star-fallen ore". So either he uses meteorites to create his works, which could either be basic things like weapons or tools, or entire mountains. He is the Mountainsmith after all. Or, maybe True Ice actually comes from space?
Moving on to the more hidden things on the scrolls in the background, they mention the 3 sisters, but you know that already. What I'm interested in is at the very bottom. "Then he turned East and threw his..." "...ed in the Great Sea. Some say, later, a Mer-K..." "...e Sea-bottom, and still uses it to rule his kingdom." So Ornn threw something to the East, and it landed in the Great Sea, where it was later found by a Mer-K(ing?), who took it with him to the sea-bottom and used it to rule his kingdom. This is very interesting, as it connects Ornn, albeit loosly, with the Vastaya of the sea, which I assume either means it has something to do with Fizz, which is lame, or it has to do with the Marai, Nami's people.
So, we know that Ornn forged the very landscape around the Howling Abyss, and we know that he also makes works that are considered "divine" What is really important to note here is that he creates things from space ore. What do we know of that involves space ore? The moonstones of the Marai people. This is where it gets crazy, so stick with me here. Ornn was once an Aspect of Targon, maybe the Aspect of Fire or of the Forge. Ornn was approached by the Aspect of the Moon, who would be his sibling, to create the Moonstone to keep the monsters of the Void at bay. Maybe he created one giant one or many smaller ones, but thousands of years later the Aspect of the Moon would trade small moonstones with the Marai people to keep the creatures of the Void at bay. We can assume that the Aspect no longer needed them, as they had Aurelion to simply destroy the monsters should they come, so they must have been created before Aurelion was captured. So Ornn created the Moonstone, then some time passed and he ended up having a dispute with the other Aspects and leaving Targon forever. Perhaps he was no longer needed as they had basically the most powerful weapon in the universe, so what the hell do they need a blacksmith for? Either way, he left Targon thousands of years ago. Now, we don't really have a world map, but we know that there are 3 main continents in Runeterra, Ionia, Valoran, and Shurima. Targon is on the Shuriman continent.
Maybe, long before there were any humans on Runeterra, Ornn left Targon and created not only a mountain range in the north, but ALL OF VALORAN ITSELF Ornn is described by Sharjo as one of the strongest beings in the lore, being just short of cosmic, and Aurelion creates stars for goodness sake, so saying that Ornn can create an entire continent might not be too far from the truth. So Ornn fled Targon and created the very continent of Valoran, forging himself a home at the farthest Northern point of it, to be as far from Targon as he could get. There he stayed for millennia, until he was approached by 2 sisters, who asked him to build the structures of the Howling Abyss, which eventually was the site of the Watchers' defeat. After the Watchers were vanquished, the sisters fought among themselves, but Ornn wanted nothing to do with it, so he left, going to the farthest reaches of the Freljord, and there he made the volcano that the poem mentions as his home. Fast forward to current times, and Ornn is once again called upon to help stop the Watchers, as Lissandra seeks their return to power. So why does Ornn help the sisters against the Watchers? Why should he care what happens to the humans? Well, one thing that the Targonians are known for in Aurelion's bio is their ambition. They were chosen as the one race worthy of his time. So there are other races out there in space, enemies of Targon. Perhaps the Watchers are one of these races, driven from their home by Aurelion, and forced to Runeterra, where they would hide in plain sight from the Targonians. So if they heard that Ornn, who is a Targonian, was living nearby, they would probably seek to kill him. I doubt that Ornn wants to die, so he helped the sisters to defeat the Watchers.
TL;DR: Ornn was an Aspect of Targon, but he left and created the continent of Valoran, and settled in the north. Thousands of years later he helped fight the Watchers, and then went away until he is somehow awakened now.
So what do you think? Is Ornn connected with Targon, or something completely different? I'd love to see any feedback you guys have, and if any Rioters want to tell me I'm barking up the wrong tree, or maybe I'm on to something, that would be extra cool!
