The scrapped Irelia splash that was teased years ago revealed

The pose looks a bit awkward. I understand why they omitted it.

Would look better if she had the face that was shown in the EU lcs game.

It's gorgeous, but I think I understand why they opted not to use it. This scene is a bit severe for a splash art for Irelia. It's a ragged, rough battlefield, full of fire and pain, and we have Irelia in the midst of it fighting for her life. It breaks pretty dramatically from the peaceful, solemn splash arts we get for all of the Ionian champions, and I think this sharp deviation from the typical presence they've been establishing for Ionia is probably why they decided not to use it. It's definitely a well done piece - the theme just isn't quite there for Ionia.

Honestly I dunno why they didn't use this splash art instead of the chinese one that we had so long.

That honestly looks AWFUL now that we can see the whole thing. The pose is so awkward, and being a final version it has a different face from the cropped on that doesn't suit her at all.

Glad it never got put in-game. Her rework has much better art.

Nice that we solved this bit of artistic mystery by finally getting the full art. At least now Updated Irelia is in a better visual place.

Frankly the pose looks almost as bad as Classic Sivir

The only thing that looks bad about it is the fact her stance and the way her weapon is being held looks too similar to Sivir.

Thar's probably the reason they didn't use it too.

I wondered what happened to that splash art. While it is interesting I do get an understanding why it wasn't used, I think mostly due to her pose. Idk it just seems very awkward of seeing her back when most other champions we usually have a good or decent front shot of them.

Still it would've been nice to have this while we could before her rework.

Some how like every other irelia splash before it, the hair doesn't match the in-game model
