Regarding Akali VGU Voice Actress. (Really want a Rioter to answer this question)

Riot's work in general regarding lore interactions has been amazing. Swain, Aatrox got so many of them. Even though I know that Laura Bailey (Akali's Old Voice Actress) was unavailable for hire due to the stuff going on in her life, why is Akali's line writing and interactions so... lacking? Riot nailed everything on the VGU, the Skins, the artwork, responding to the fact that Crimson Akali was just a full priced Chroma, the abilities and her kit in general, adding an amazing amount of complexity. But what happened when writing for her voice lines? Not to even mention she only has 1 kind of laugh, even pre VGU Akali had 4. I'm not saying the new voice actor hasn't done a good job, and I have accepted that the old voice isn't coming back. It's just that the writing part was set back afar, compared to the recent reworks.

current akali has 9 move lines, as a 2010 champ

new: 7 move lines pre 10 mins 10 move lines 10-20 mins 11 movelines 20-onwards

how did this make it through, i truely dont get it

Riot said they gave her a much smaller Voice over script cuz they didnt want her talking too much. They wanted her to fit into the "ninja assassin" ideal (one without magic) so it's less about talking and more about doing. i'll link it i f i find the comment again.

I found her accent weird to be ionian. Other than that... Guess it was rushed.

If they wanted her to fit her role, why is she such a raging a**hole, now? Being inflammatory as heck doesn't seem very much like someone raised strictly and with balance in philosophy. She was always cocky, but at least tactful. She's just flat out mean to everybody, HOPEFULLY for a reason yet-to-be revealed. I was really hoping new life would be breathed into my favorite champion, but it was just a lot of hot air and teen angst. Why is she so bitter and unprofessional? The lines are abrasive and shallow and insulting. Does she say anything neutral to anybody? It doesn't suit her image at all. Maybe this isn't ALL of the lines? Placeholders? I want her to have more of a personality and attitude than before, but this seems overly hostile. And while the new VA didn't do a terrible job, it's still noooot the same quality as the other recent upgrades; There's some weird inflection and pausing. It feels rushed. I think she maybe didn't have a lot of time?

Where Riot talked about the minimal voice over. Though I do agree with them (a ninja wouldn't be screaming words and quote when going in for the kill), I kinda wanted more out of it? Idk, maybe the whole going alone thing has been done for a while with other media so I thought they might make it different here. Most of her move quotes refer to killing things and weapons, but one quote in her bio that stood out for me "Ionians were dying in the material realm, and that was the realm Akali would defend" didn't really get referred in her voice over. That's just my take on it though.

Riot should have just kept her old voice until Miss Bailey got back in the game after giving birth to her son. She is a titan of voice acting and I'd rather wait than to have someone else do the voice of Akali unless that was riot's intention to have a different VA for her.

yes. i too wish akali would scream "come" in a somewhat soviet accent over and over into my ears and then have an extended laugh animation to rival jinx.
