The Dark Implications Of Sylas’ Rebellion

Demacia already oppresses mages. It hunts them down, makes them eat Petricite, and crowds them into ghettos. Now that one is trying to topple the crown and rally every mage to his cause, the Jarvans would escalate this oppression.

It would start off naturally, with propaganda against the rebellion. Calling him a traitor and every mage behind him a power-hungry thug. But of course, since he’d also be trying to recruit mages, the Jarvans would have to order every mage in the country rounded up and put under guard. And those mages, who in other words would be all mages, would have to be dehumanized before they could be concentrated.

But since the average Demacian wouldn’t like them anyway, and the country has no constitution or human rights, there’d be no reason to end this treatment. Indeed, hardliners in the Jarvan court would argue that they, like Sylas, should have been killed long ago. After the rebellion were contained and any surrendering mages sent to join the rest, the king would agree.

Demacian mage genocide is inevitable.
